Former President Donald Trump’s second televised town hall of the 2024 presidential campaign season took place yesterday, broadcast in prime time for an hour on the FOX News channel. The venue was a large facility in Clive, Iowa, with an enthusiastic crowd of Trump supporters who applauded and cheered throughout the event.
As he began the broadcast, host Sean Hannity said (according to a transcript provided by FOX News):
SEAN HANNITY: By the way, unlike fake news CNN, it's not my job to sit here and debate the candidate. We're going to ask him about the issues of the day that actually matter to the people that came out here tonight in the rain and thunder and lightning, the voters, and they will also have their questions as well. Nothing is off the table.
The program, however, which was recorded earlier in the day (and possibly subjected to content editing), featured only two questions from the audience. They occurred during the last five minutes of the show – hardly an example of a “town hall,” which is defined by citizen participants’ interactions with the subject.
As the program ended, Hannity announced that a second part with audience questions was being recorded and would be shown tonight, Friday, on Hannity at 9 PM ET.
A friendly crowd
Hannity also noted at one point:
HANNITY: I think everyone here tonight is likely voting for you [Donald Trump], right? So. . .
(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Choreographed Event.
Of course. He’s like the current Pope, an old man who thinks it’s all about him.
Where was he supposed to have an interview? The View? For once there was a friendly and cheering crowd on TV. Choreographed or not, what Trump said was, as usual, based common sense and logic.
Did Hannity let him speak and did he mention he washed dishes growing up?
When your nation spied on him after he announced in 2015, they sort of made it all about him..
LOL
Hannity no doubt couldn’t shut up long enough for audience participation of any significance.
I was shocked when I saw Trump on Fox last nite.
Then, I could find NO threads about it.
No one had a “live thread” or anything devoted to Trump being the centerpiece?
And am I to suppose Fox gets no points for having a solo Trump appearance? Still vitriol?
But Trump is the opposite of the current pope, in every conceivable way.
If Trump thought the way you claim, he never would have run for president.
We’ve heard the same stuff before. He’s gotta go in a different direction. Lighten up a bit, more humor. Get the people laughing at his enemies like Rush did.
Hannity loves to hear himself speak, so there was a lot of that blather. It was hardly a ‘Town Hall’, more like an interview with a live-friendly audience. I guess there’s a 2nd half that will air later and will have more audience questions than the first session.
Actually that was probably Trump. Not that I mind, because sometimes it’s better just to let Trump talk until he doesn’t know what else to say.
Like REAGAN did.

It starts at Minute 13:00 of the video after Hannity’s monologue. Decide for yourself if Hannity kept interrupting.
No, Fox gets no points for having a solo Trump appearance.
Fox is anathema to critical masses, here on Free Republic. As such, nobody here wanted to talk about Trump being on Fox.
Was it “The Hannity Blabbity” hour?
I'm glad our side is catching on a bit.
Townhalls are supposed to have at least some challenging questions. An audience can be friendly without being echo chambers.
They’re both talkers, of course.
