Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov has blasted Vladimir Putin's war tactics for not being 'brutal' enough amid his invasion of Ukraine and demanded that Russia declare martial law.
The strongman, previously seen as a close Kremlin ally, said the drone onslaught on Moscow this week showed a tougher response is needed from Russia's military that would see the war taken to NATO countries.
'Responses to such attempts to attack should not be harsh - they should be brutal,' Kadyrov said.
'In my opinion, it is necessary to declare martial law in Russia, to use all the combat resources intended for this, in order to sweep away this entire terrorist cell [in Ukraine] at once.'
It comes after Wagner mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin also demanded martial law across Russia amid speculation he may be acting with unidentified figures within Putin's circle in a bid to oust the despot.

Yep, that is Putin’s weakness, at least as viewed in Russia (based on reports, of course) - too damn soft! So, for all you Putin-haters, be careful what you wish for...

In my view, Putin just wanted the Russian speaking areas of Ukraine. His objectives were limited. Those keeping track of events in Ukraine noted that about 8,000, or so, Russian ethnics were slaughtered shortly before Putin declared war.
That's pretty much the whole country. Most Ukrainians speak Russian as their first language. The Ukrainian language in Ukraine is like Gaelic in Ireland.

Should Putin have allowed Russian ethnics be slaughtered? 8,000 Russian ethnics were killed by Ukranians, probably under order from Zelensky.

The thing was, Putin didn’t even want that...his preference was to keep the Russian-speaking areas in Ukraine, but not at the cost of the Ukrainian Ethnic Cleansing Program...something that the West would not agree to, as Putin understood that trying to change borders was a big deal.
So it was either sitting by while a massacre took place in the Donbass, or going in and then dealing the fallout. Hard to see any other Russian leader, other than a puppet of the West, doing anything different.

Sure, take the war to NATO. Russia can’t finish off a second string country like Ukraine, but I’m sure they’ll do just fine facing the greatest military alliance in the world.
Except that it first emerged as a language about 170 years ago.

Kadryov is an illustration why Cossaks have been so valuable as a fighting force. Keep in mind that the Cossak mentality developed over a very long time period where the Golden Horde/Crimean Khanate main business model was hunting slaves for export, estimated to be 7 million in total.
