But on the opposite end, Trump has had nothing but kind words for Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, whom he worked with during his term in the White House.
And according to a recent New York Times report, Trump still had positive feelings regarding Scott in the lead-up to the conservative lawmaker launching his presidential campaign last week.
While watching Fox News at his Mar-a-Lago club in South Florida recently, Trump reportedly passed on any sort of negative words about his longtime ally.
"I like him. We're just going to say nice things about Tim," Trump said, according to an unnamed individual who spoke with The Times.
After Scott held his campaign announcement in North Charleston, South Carolina, last week, Trump wished him luck in the GOP contest and said that the senator would be a "big step up" from DeSantis — whose presidential announcement came during the same week.

I wouldn’t vote for this guy if I were you.
On the other hand, the knives are out 24/7 for anyone he considers an actual opponent. Sure wish Mr. Trump would do better there.
So Trump has dismissed Scott as a threat, focusing on DeSantis who will beat him.
I get it.
Make an argument against Trump.
Then source the argument with MSN which stands for the Microsoft Network which is an umbrella for PMSNBC.
That source should work every time.
DJT knows he doesn’t have to attack Tim Scott people of all colors like and admire him the Democrat race baiters can not let his message get out. He is a huge threat to the Democrats. Don’t forget what Biden did to Thomas, and what happened to the very popular Herman Cain. The Cain Gingrich debate was epic and the race baiters knew they had to stop the flood.
Trump knows they pose no threat of winning the nomination. They are fighting each other and dividing the RINO-wing vote. Trump has the MAGA vote.
DeSantis has the:
1. "DeSantis could be a spare tire for Trump" vote (Biggest block but they're voting for the real deal.
2. "Trump makes me clutch my pearls" voters.
3. "If only we had a DeSantis, everything about the deep state, CIA fraud, and corruption would melt away and America would be back to the way I remember it" voter - which is to say delusional.
Business Insider, try harder would you?
LOL Condescending. That’s not ‘nice’.
Trump and the Seven Dwarfs
Trump knows that DeSantis is the primary Deep State preferred candidate with lots of money and press coverage. All the others are just out there to make some money or hope that they can get into the next administration.
Americans are suspicious of older men that love their mother and are unmarried.
What are we seeing? Trump won’t criticise Tim Scott BECAUSE he is black????
Look, Trump knows that most of the Time votes would have gone to RDS. If Tim were a threat, he would treat him as he did Ben Carson.
Short guy Tim may well get a pat on his head from Trump.
Whatever your biases want you to see.
He is angling for Scott as his VP.
I really sympathize that you cannot dispute Trump's own quote in this story and his praise of RINOs while attacking conservatives.
I feel very sad for you.
Sounds more like Trump likes Scott as his VP choice
I have no bias. It’s just interesting watching Trump criticise possible stronger opponents and tip toe around weaker ones.
Yes, it is sad that you cannot refute the Trump quote where he praises RINOs and attacks conservatives, so you try to impugn the source.
I feel bad for you since you have to twist and contort in order to support your RINO-loving candidate.
