If not 2024, then 2026 and 2028. I don't know about the legitimacy of the charges against Ken Paxton, but they have been known for several years. An attempt in 2016 by the Federal Trade Commission to prosecute him for violating various provisions of the Securities Act of 1933 and various provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 was dismissed by a Federal district court. There are also state level charges on securities law violations dating to 2015 that have been kicking around since that time with Paxton wanting the case to be moved to his home county, Republican Collin County, as opposed to deep blue Harris County (Houston).

Where there is smoke, there is fire. It is at least possible that Paxton engaged in corrupt business activities and abused his authority.

However, Paxton is the most conservative statewide official and has fought for the integrity of the vote. He is a strong ally of Trump, who has come to Paxton's defense. The Attorney General's office has been a springboard for higher office: his recent predecessors were Governor Greg Abbott and U.S. Senator John Cornyn. As with Federal impeachment, conviction requires a two-thirds majority in the State Senate. There are 31 Senators, 19 of whom are Republicans. If nine GOP Senators vote to convict, along with the 12 Democrats, Paxton would be removed from office. The repercussions would be significant. His replacement would likely be from the RINO wing of the GOP. Such an Attorney General would probably not hold fraud in Dallas, Harris, Travis, Bexar, and El Paso Counties in check. It is possible that if not in 2024, then in 2026 or 2028, the Democratic vote fraud we have seen in Georgia, Arizona, etc., will work to move Texas leftward.

If Paxton is guilty of some law violation FINE. But, knowing Texas politics, I highly doubt it.
