A Chicago beach was closed just hours after it opened for Memorial Day Weekend after shots were fired during a large brawl.
The shooting comes after officials announced they are deploying 'peacekeepers' across the city in a bid to prevent holiday chaos after nine people were killed and 52 others were shot last year.
Crowds of people at North Avenue Beach scrambled for cover on Friday when gun fire went off following a fight which broke out between a group of 80 to 100 teenagers.

Governor JB Pritzker announced on Thursday the establishment of the Citywide Crisis Prevention & Response unit which will work with community-based organizations to deploy over 30 trained neighborhood 'peacekeepers.'
These "peacekeepers" are better known as potential hostages. I'm guessing they were running when the gunshots started...if they were even there.

How do you scramble for cover on a beach? Big flat empty stretch of sand. Umbrellas make poor shields against bullets. Only one person can hide behind an ice chest. I guess you could get behind some other people but I wouldn’t want to tell that story afterwards.
