Between 2018 and 2019, Röbynn Europe, a former professional body builder, worked at an Equinox on the Upper East Side, where she managed personal trainers. Years earlier, as a scholarship student at Brearley, the girls’ school several blocks away, where she began in seventh grade, commuting first from Canarsie and then Coney Island, she had experienced the coded bias of privileged teenagers. There was only one other Black student in her class. But still that had not prepared her for what she described as crass, unfiltered expressions of prejudice from male colleagues in an expensive gym, awash with the scent of eucalyptus oil if not the base notes of enlightenment.
Ms. Europe’s tenure at the club was short-lived; Equinox terminated her employment in less than a year because, the company said, she was late 47 times in the course of 10 months. Ms. Europe held a different view of her firing, believing that her lateness was merely a pretext for discrimination, and soon after she filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court, arguing that she had been subjected to a hostile work environment and eventually let go because of her race and gender. Last week, a predominantly white jury of five women and three men agreed, delivering a verdict in little over an hour. The next day they awarded her $11.25 million in damages.

New York, New York!
So what’s the big deal? She won didn’t she?
O.J. was set up.
Fired for being black? In 21st century America? No one is stupid enough to do that. I mean, your IQ would have to be very far to the left of the Bell Curve to think that this sort of firing would be a good idea. So I’m going to say that it’s not just “rare” — I’m going to say it NEVER happens now.
Black privilege inability to show up on time is not a bug, it’s feature.
These kinds of successful lawsuits make hiring black people very risky—better to be sued for discrimination in not hiring them than take a much bigger hit for firing them.
Sounds like she didn’t deny the accusation of chronic tardiness. In every job I have had, that would be good cause for termination, despite my white male privilege! /s
Robynn Europe. ROTFL. What the hell is a Robynn from Europe doing suing people in America? Like I’ve always said, juries are just a group of narcissistic, low I.Q. idiots with nothing to do on weekdays. Judge Judy fans.
More theft by lawfare.
Hiring her in the first place was a mistake.
Have you ever served on a jury?
Have you ever tried to get out of serving on a jury?
Do you remember the article posted on Free Republic a couple of weeks ago that said getting up early in the morning was a character trait of white people? And blacks were being unfairly stereo-typed as lazy because their 'culture' is such that they don't wake up early.
I commented that the article was setting the stage for blacks to claim racism if they were fired for being chronically late, and HERE WE ARE!!
This is just going to make it harder for blacks to get hired. If you have to fire them, this is what happens. Given two equally qualified candidates hire the white one, cause you can never fire the black one if s/he doesn’t work out well.
That on time thing is a symptom of whiteness....as per the African Smithsonian Museum display.
I’ve known of people being fired from jobs for excessive lateness. If happens.
But in woke times, I guess if you fire s black woman for excessive lateness, it’s because she’s a black woman, not because she can’t get her ass to work on time. 🙄
You don’t EVER hire anyone showing up for the interview looking like that.
Five alarm trouble, buddy.
Hopefully will be overturned on appeal...
And yet she’s adopted the surname “Europe” and added an umlaut to her given name. So who’s the white supremacist?
When I read this article earlier this morning only one thought/question came to mind, why would anyone ever hire a Black Female?
