But only if you define denomination as including every disgruntled parishioner who holds an alternate service in their home.
You will be amazed how quickly amity is restored once the spectre of satan is removed from the altar.
In my conference it appears to be a majority of churches leaving the denomination. The process is just beginning and it will become more difficult as the administration throws up greater roadblocks. The outlook is clear. Disunity within the church goes far beyond the ordination of sexual deviants. The theology that brought this travesty into practice, and the totalitarian authority of the Bishops without compassion is central to the conflict.
I maintain the division is even deeper than Sodom. The authority for assimilating deviancy into the authority of the church is in conflict with local church practice. The Bishop’s cabinet has lost the confidence of local churches. They seek to break from an authority that does not consider their needs and interests above the political and social interests of aberrant cultural (read: liberal, Marxist, atheist) movements.
A spirit of elitist moral superiority has grown up within the confines of the leadership of the church that admonishes their underlings to accept their edicts. District Superintendents are encouraged to look down on local congregants as illiterate and uninformed with outdated attitudes about Christianity.
“the totalitarian authority of the Bishops without compassion is central to the conflict.”
I have followed the UM situation for decades—it appears to me that Bishops refusing to discipline because they disagreed with the BOD was at the root of the crisis.
Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City, Alabama had a big vote on disaffiliation. I was worried because it was going to take a 2/3rds vote to disaffiliate. Only full members could vote and there was no proxy voting.
The vote count tally was: 190 to disaffiliate. 5 voted to stay UMC.
Yep, one near me has the fag flag. flying every day. But they left me decades ago when I became an Outdoor Methodist.
My mom’s congregation, and another Southern California congregation that I know of, have to come up with half the value of the property to buy out the United Methodist left wing, like a divorce, splitting the assets. It’s in the millions of dollars that they have to come up with, and they can’t do it. I suggested they pool their resources with other nearby churches who are leaving and focus on buying out one of those properties.
That is a good idea, the sharing resources.
If I was UMC, affiliated, or not, I would have a problem with the Bishops moving pastors around willy-nilly with no input from congregations.
Good point.
Not just Methodists and others.
Old saying: Two Jews, three opinions.
We will be as of 12:01 June 1, 2023!
Agreed, but now that it has, it must be dealt with!
It ain’t over yet.
Press on!
GMC will dominate in very short order, I predict!
UMC has all the money, right now, but I do not see a bright future for UMC.
Thanks!
We see a bright future for our Church, providing we can get shed of our LIEberal Pastor.
the Wokesters have dug their grave. I have been cheering for this since 1985 when my Bishop took offense and came against me. These are evil people. We must be separated from them. Their money will be squandered in fruitless suits against those they are charged to protect.
We have had 4 churches in our district vote to separate in the past few weeks. All were unanimous. What is remarkable is there is little if any discussion in the churches about this. Some personal conversations but no meetings, no sermons, no general discussion. The spirit of the people is solid and strong. Christians hate the false morality of celebrating deviance.

Good riddance to bad trash, UMC!
Here in NE Indiana, the church district is blatantly slow-walking disaffiliation requests. They refuse to supply filing requirements until the deadlines have passed. They claim not to have received documents that were filed on time. It’s just shameless. We’re documenting everything we can, in case we end up having to sue.
We’re seeing our denominational leadership’s true colors, and it’s ugly.
