DeSantis hits Biden over COVID-19 vaccine mandates with ‘Warp Speed’ play

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted President Biden’s support of vaccine mandates over the weekend by playing off former President Donald Trump’s accelerated push for a COVID-19 jab.

Addressing the Florida Family Policy Council on Saturday, DeSantis asserted that vaccine mandates were an egregious violation of individual rights.

“The way they weaponized these COVID vaxes was a massive incursion into our freedoms,” the governor said. “They wanted to deny people the right to put food on their table if they didn’t bend the knee and get a COVID shot that they may not have wanted and that many of them did not need.”

DeSantis then slipped in a jab at his prospective rival for GOP supremacy.

“We can never allow ‘Warp Speed’ to trump informed consent in this country ever again,” DeSantis said, referring to the 45th president’s “Operation Warp Speed” vaccine development push.

When real discussion of the side effects of Trump's "beautiful vaccine" starts the polls will be changing at warp speed and not in his direction.

"...never allow ‘Warp Speed’ to trump informed consent..."

That is very clever politicking.

Trump would never have mandated the vaccine. That being said he relied on two mad scientists, Fauci and Birx to do and say what they wanted. Probably because Trump is a germaphobe.

The "vaccine" more than anything, is Trump's Achilles heel.

The problem is that any politician taking Trump to task will have to answer for their dumb and disastrous decisions regarding Batflu.

DeSantis is off the mark. There was nothing wrong per se about Trump pursuing Warp Speed. Almost everything else about it, pushed by the administrative state and political motives, was wrong. Mandates, passports to enter public locations, shutdowns of small businesses while large corporations stayed open (though this was largely state by state) and the adamant refusal to spend money on researching treatments and going 100% towards vaccines they knew did not stop transmission was not foolish it was greed and lust for power.

I understand DeSantis is gearing up for a primary fight but if he wants Trump voters he needs to point his ire at the administrative state.

Covid put Trump into an unwinnable political position.

Side with personal freedom and be blamed for every Covid death thereafter - Or - Push the vaccine and fuel the tyrants who took away the livelihoods of those who refused.

DeSantis played Covid right, but he wasn’t POTUS, and didn’t suffer near the same level of backlash Trump would have endured.

DeSantis never said there was anything wrong with Operation Warp Speed or vaccine development.

Read the quote again.

Trump was wrongly accused, smeared, lied and denigrated by the deep state for 4 years leading up to the Wuhan Flu.

What made Trump believe turning everything over to the Deep State would be a good idea?

I was disappointed that Trump did not stand up for small businesses or individual liberty. He had the bully pulpit.

Then, Trump signed the largest spending bill in US history, the CARES Act, for $2 trillion that made the lockdowns and mandates easier for everyone......and kicking off the inflation we have today.

Trump was decisive and strong, even in the early stages, shutting down travel, etc. But after a few weeks, he became a deer in the headlights and vapor locked.

DeSantis went along with the advice from Fauci at first. Over time, he and others saw the light and pulled back. He admits that the things he did early were wrong. But he changed course to do what was right. He even fired the surgeon general of Florida, replacing him with a much more wise and reasoned doctor.

That’s a good synopsis.

The first time I saw Fauci take the microphone, Trump looked at him sideways. You could read the doubt in his face.

He should have made the first time Fauci spoke also the last.

*********************************************************
For years pharma couldn’t get mRNA to work and get approval by FDA as a therapeutic, so they converted it to a vaccine and snookered Trump to get it hastily approved. Trump owns it because he appears not to have done his due diligence, but instead handed his government over to bureaucrats like Fear Fuhrer Fauci.

Then there is Remdesivir that needs to be discussed.

“DeSantis never said there was anything wrong with Operation Warp Speed or vaccine development.”

BS. He (or his speech writers more likely) didn’t slip the words “Warp Speed” and “trump” into that sentence without knowing exactly the implication they were making.

Trump would have been labeled a mass murderer if he didn’t abide Fauci’s advice.

DeSantis went against the recommendation to vaccinate health care workers first. Instead, he put senior citizens first. He took a lot of flak for that, but it was the correct move.

Covid is over. No one wants to talk about it anymore on either side of the political spectrum. It’s a dead issue.

Easy for DeSantis to criticize while he didn’t need to set policy. The credit goes to President Trump-the man in the area-who needed to protect BOTH the nation’s fiscal AND physical health.

Credit for what? Turning the nation over to the Deep State via Fauci?

Trump did great in the beginning, talking about the Wuhan Flu in the State of the Union Speech, shutting down air travel, etc.

A few weeks into it, Trump became worthless to our freedoms.

Operation Warp Speed was good also. It saved senior lives, but took many more young lives because the Deep State was out of control

There was nothing wrong per se about Trump pursuing Warp Speed.

Sure there was.

1) Rushing an untested treatment into production and distribution is reckless and irresponsible.

2) Rushing an untested treatment based on a technology with a bad history into production and distribution is doubly reckless and irresponsible.

History has now shown that the creepy synthetic mRNA injection experiment was a disastrous failure.

As President, Donald Trump did many good things. That doesn't give him or his supporters the right to brush off his failures. A real leader take responsibility for the bad things that happen on his watch.

I agree 100%, but it should work both ways. (Cet animal est très méchant, Quand on l’attaque, il se défend.)

But weren’t the Trump supporters the ones saying Trump wasn’t really supporting Disney and that Trump wasn’t saying that a 6-week abortion ban was too harsh? By your own criteria, Trump obviously included those words knowing the implications he was making…
