Delaware Democratic Sen. Tom Carper announced Monday that he is not running for reelection in 2024.
Carper, 76, is chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee and won his first of four Senate terms in 2000.
A contentious Democratic primary is expected in the blue-leaning state with Carper's announcement. Democratic Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester is expected to jump into the race to succeed him.
Other Senate Democrats who are retiring or choosing to not seek reelection include Sen. Debbie Stabenow (Mich.), Ben Cardin (Md.) and Dianne Feinstein (Calif.).
Carper pledged on Monday to continue his work fighting for clean energy until he leaves the Senate.

Pierre DuPont never considered it coming off 2 successful governorships. Pretty conservative as I remember.
Senate was not good enough. Had to run for POTUS only. It was the case with too many governors in the recent past. They were not team players. Think Tommy Thompson in Wisconsin. Plenty of others. The democrats live for this stuff-we don’t.

That rings a bell. What year was that. I remember DuPont. He was governor during the Reagan years, correct?
Give Tucker Carlson a big enough platform, nearly anything can happen.
Trust in the Media is very low, and for good reason.
Most of the power of the left is in their ability to control the narrative, mostly in the Media.
Delaware is 22% minority. Anything with a D wins.
Oh, how I wish my Maryland had a somewhat formidable GOP candidate to vie for the seat being vacated by Cardin!!
Maryland’s dearth of republicans is appalling. For example, I actually voted for the one who ran against Van Hollen last year despite the fact that I never even saw his face, heard his voice, saw an ad or could find a campaign website.
BTW, Dan Cox who lost to Wes Moore apparently isn’t in consideration since he’s moved up to PA to be Mastriano’s chief of staff and will likely be busy as Mastriano embarks on his senate run to unseat Casey.
And, thankfully, Hogan has expressed no interest in a senate race.

Du Pont was governor in the 1980s. Ran for president in 1988. Got talked down to by Bush. Robert Novak liked Du Pont. Called him “the patrician populist.” Du Pont wsa pretty conservative.
The diarhetic found out his family name was changed from Crapper to Carper years back.
