A top GOP donor who previously backed Donald Trump has announced that he will be supporting Ron DeSantis in the 2024 Election.
Hal Lambert, founder and CEO of Texas-based Point Bridge Capital, said he wants to "do a lot to help DeSantis win" amid strong speculation the Florida governor will confirm his presidential campaign in the coming days.
Lambert, who set up an exchange-traded fund named after the former president's Make America Great Again 2016 campaign slogan, MAGA ETF, and previously served on Trump's inaugural committee in 2016, told the New York Post that he decided to back DeSantis after meeting with him and wife in Florida three weeks ago.
Lambert said he was also put off by Trump's recent CNN town hall, where the former president continued to falsely claim the 2020 Election was "rigged."
"What voters who didn't vote for Trump in 2020 are going to vote for him this time based on his performance? I don't think anyone will," Lambert told The Post. "We can't talk about things from four years ago that can't be changed.
"Trump is going to have a difficult time winning the general election. The election won't be about Joe Biden's bad record. It will be a referendum on Trump instead."
It is reported that DeSantis will file paperwork declaring his presidential candidacy on May 25 to coincide with a donor meeting in Miami, before a formal announcement a few days later.

That is very true.
The reason the establishment continues with this crap against candidates and leaders they do not like is because it has gone unchallenged to this point. The answer is not to ditch the target, but to return the favor x10.
If you say there is nothing on the Presidential Election in the Constitution, you would be wrong, because there is plenty of relevant material in Article II.
Now if you said that States are allowed to set certain parameters of the election that are not delineated directly in the Constitution, you would be correct. But you did not say that.
Your point (much discussed on this forum) is that the Federal governnment has little to no control over certain aspects of the election process, such as Ballot Harvesting, Ranked Choice voting, how votes are collected, tallied, and resulted, and that is fair enough.
But saying we should leave it wholly up to the states is a mistake as well, especially since the Left controls the state election ballot process, and we have 22 states that have a Soros-backed Secretary of State in place (Last I heard)
I've seen breakdowns for some states, but not for all states. I know Trump as it currently stands, has a pretty decent shot of winning Nevada thanks to a lot of Hispanics flipping. He looks like he'll carry North Carolina by more than the 2 points he won it by last time. He currently leads in Georgia though I'm not sure exactly how much. Ohio and Iowa are shoe-ins for Trump. He is ahead in Arizona now. Obviously Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are going to be huge battlegrounds. He'd probably have to win by more than 2-3% nationally to carry Michigan or New Hampshire. It would take something like the 7% lead he currently has nationally to put some other states like Virginia or New Mexico in play.
The MSN got itself Saint Desantis’ first book ... it sounds like they are going to make a big stink over Desantis trashing Obama ... apparently the said book is now unavailable ... per the Post... but somehow they managed to get their hands on one...
I see you can't refute a single thing I have posted, so you call names.
A-a-a-a-a-a-n-n-n-n-d the same morons that told us that “Trump colluded with Russia, Russia, Russia” are telling us “the 2020 election wasn’t stolen”.....we are watching brain cells and critical thinking skills evaporate before our very eyes!!!!
These people and their books. Given how politics is consumed today, If you can’t put your thoughts in a Tweet, etc., give it up. No one I know has the time or inclination to turn off social media long enough to read a book.
No, it is you who lack brain cells.
Not a single person posting here denied 2020 was stolen.
Try to think a bit before posting, you will look less like a fool.
Sure. And that is a straw man argument, meant to add nothing to the discourse.
What is your point, besides saying someone I didn’t like in the past supported someone in the past that I liked? And it somehow makes my criticism of someone who thought enough of that aspect of a candidacy to blurt it out in a short interview, instead of real objections.
Or, maybe that is his only real objection, and his blather about Trump being unelectable because of his mean tweets is just meant to cover that real reason, that his money might have less attached political control or extra-corporate profit for him?
Is that it? In your mind, do you make up your mind, and then stick with that decision regardless of circumstances?
My denigration of this supporter and others who may support DeSantis is not based on their support of DeSantis, because people have many reasons why they might or might not support someone.
It is when the person comes out and explicitly states what I find repugnant and dangerous, that we need to stop talking about Election Fraud which is exactly the same as saying it isn’t important.
And it damn well is important, more important than nearly anything else. You may disagree on that point, but if you did, I would say you are fatally wrong.
Fatally wrong for our Republic.
I just cannot wait to see his life long tax returns.
“...you would know that I agree with the idea that cheating happened, it doesn’t change the fact that Trump is not POTUS...”
I responded to you sentence: “Everyone assumed Trump was going to win in 2020, he did not.”
He did, but was cheated.
“...and 2020 Trump had not been convicted of a crime and facing a civil judgement over rape.”
Trump still has not been convicted of a crime and the rape charges were thrown out in the civil case.
“My point, which your emotions get in the way of seeing, is you can’t have a candidate who is convicted of a crime and facing a civil judgement involving rape.”
Again, Trump has not been convicted of a crime, and there is no civil juidgment against him involving rape. Again, in the civil case, the rape accusation was thrown out, even by a stupid jury.
It is interesting in light of the Durham Report. Desperation is setting in on the lead up to DeSantis announcing. The GOP elite aren’t afraid Trump can’t win. Far from it. They fear he is on a steam roll and they’re lying on the road, not driving the machine. Their days of control and manipulation are coming to an end. As lovers of America, we should all be tickled pink.
Cheating probably swung a few key states Biden's way, but the ugly truth is that about half the country did vote for Biden.
MILLIONS in AMERICA will vote TRUMP or not at all.
I AM ONE.
Lambert-—IF YOU are SMART enough to run such a large entity-—and YOU DO NOT THINK THE 2020 election was rigged-—you are a FOOL.

He never said it wasn't.

These “mega-donors” typically know about 0 about elections.
Yeah, he was dumb enough to support Trump in 2016 and 2020...he knows nothing.
Not voting is accepting whatever happens.
Are 2020’s non-voters so fed up they’ll vote Biden out next time?
Maybe, maybe not.
Still, whoever won the election in electoral votes, at least as many people voted for Biden as for Trump.
America is in real trouble.
