The Golden Rule of modern life:

Those with the ‘gold’ make the rules.

“simply unacceptable”

Joe can accept a few trillion in government handouts on behalf of his voters, or $0.

Republicans in the House have the absolute power to end federal welfare for about 18 months.

If the media makes Republicans unlikely to be reelected, all of Joe’s voters will need to learn to live without federal handouts, quickly.

There won’t be a default IMO. Prolly some type of continuing resolution type of deal to kick the can down the road. Or possibly a compromise fashioned to look like progress on paper so both sides can declare victory.

As for a market crash, that’s not going to happen either. Trust me, the Fed will do WHATEVER it takes to prop up the market and prevent serious economic damage.

I’m not being optimistic, just recognizing that the the powers that be and their Deep State allies will act to protect their own interests. Its all about THEM, after all.

****************

Joe’s voters have the advantage of knowing their votes are basically buying access to the U.S. Treasury. The party that offers voters the most money in return for their votes has a big advantage over a party that doesn’t. Just saying.

Yeah, so sending billions of US taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars to Ukraine, the Democrats’ latest money laundering scheme, is something that Biden accepts no blame for.

My main question. Is there anything that Biden does NOT lie about? I’m thinking not, which made him the perfect stooge candidate for the position he is currently pretending to be in charge of.

“It’s still TBD what a default will cause regarding the US economy and society. I doubt much will be good. The fact that you won’t post objectively about the effects - both those that you yearn for and those that you don’t, speaks volumes.”

The federal government will retain the power to borrow money.

If necessary, the FDIC limit can be lowered as necessary to steer money towards Treasury issues (instead of bank CD renewals).

Congress could also commander the banking system under its Article I Section 8 authority to borrow money. A bank issuing a 3% CD might have to lend 50% of the amount to the federal government.

The idea that interest rates will rise is dubious. No entity wants to pay a decent rate of return on the money I have to lend out. A decent rate of return is the rate of increase of prices in stores such as Walmart.

There is also the strong possibility that the first post-default Treasury auction will be manipulated. Corporations will bid say $100 million at say 3% at the auction to keep their far larger debt amount costs low.

“”I’ve done my part,” Biden said regarding negotiations, adding that “it’s time for the other side to move their team positions because much of what they were proposed is simply quite frankly, unacceptable.”

LOL.

Methinks Jon has read Atlas Shrugged, a primer for the Biden Administration.

This is such an easy win for the Repukesbut they don’t know how to play the game. Send them 2009’s budget and priase Obama for signing it and say that the Rats have gone so far left that an Obama budget seems radically right wing. Then go on vacation and say youve passed the bill, President must sign it to save the country from defaulting. If you need to throw the Repuke Senate under the bus, do it.

The definition of "leader" was drilled into me, courtesy of the Army: a leader is responsible for everything his unit does, or FAILS to do.

I've tried to live my life according to that, albeit imperfectly. We have no "leaders" in DC, and that includes the Pentagon.

It’s obviously sustainable. No less sustainable than 150 trillion. As long as you own the currency...if that changes changes it could get ugly really fast

“kick the can down the road.”

The Republican Party cemetery gates are just up the road.

The elections of obviously unfit Biden and Fetterman show that voter bribery decides elections nowadays.

This voter bribery must be brought back to tolerable limits ASAP.

Biden has sure done his part to destroy the American economy and doesn’t realize it. That’s called low IQ.
