Trump says he would reach abortion 'deal' that the 'whole country can agree with'

Former President Trump claimed Tuesday that his potential future administration would reach a deal on abortion that "the whole country" would be okay with.

"Now DeSantis, or Ron DeSanctimonious as I call him, he came out with the six weeks. Other people agree with it. And a lot of people don't," Trump said in an interview with Newsmax. "We're in a position now – and I'm going to be leading the charge – we're in the position now where we can get something that the whole country can agree with, and that's only because I got us out of the Roe v. Wade where the pro-life people had absolutely nothing to say."

When pressed further, the GOP presidential candidate asserted that he is in a "very powerful negotiating position" following the reversal of Roe v. Wade, echoing previous statements when asked about his beliefs. . .

The way things are going...no Republican will win in 2024. We are all divided and it looks like it is getting bitter and ridiculous. I will vote for the person who can stand up and talk about all the issues in a frank, clear no nonsense way that points the way to solutions and does so without using name calling and personal attacks. We need a strong leader that can actually lead the party and the country in the right direction.

Doxxing? What a squirrelly accusation, given what was said.

Show the poll in Florida where they want an all out ban. Oops. You hate being called out. You probably were the ringmaster in that veteran’s nonsense about getting kicked out of housing for migrants which made republicans look stupid.

President Trump is impulsive. He really seems unable to control himself.

That's a fact. I know it's true because I heard it from Whoopi Goldberg on The View!

“He has to do what he has to do,” Trump said when asked about Florida’s abortion rules. “If you look at what DeSantis did, a lot of people don’t even know if he knew what he was doing. But he signed six weeks, and many people within the pro-life movement feel that that was too harsh.”

(Really?? Name those “Pro-Life” people.)

When asked about whether he would support restrictions on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, Trump replied, “I’m looking at all options.”

(Yes, all options on how to abort a baby because it’s an optional thing.)

Indeed.
He’s lost what little control he had.

💯 correct.

Perhaps he can order the AFT to look into Women’s Baby Bumps since they did such a fine job on Bump Stocks.

How stupid are you?

It's politics.

Trump isn't saying he is going to push for abortion...he's needling DeSantis (and giving Trump-haters like you and others on this thread something to hyperventilate about).

Take a valium and have a good cry in the bathroom.

“I don’t need to be paid. Trump provides all the trash I need to throw into your face, cultist.
6-time loser Trump is blowing it big time.”

Now there’s a really good example of intellectual discussion.

Thanks for showing me the way!

“The US Constitution gives no power to the Feds to define this. Only a Constitutional Amendement could legally change the status quo at the Fedeal level.”

A Constitutional Amendment has already been passed that addresses this issue: Amendment V.

“No person shall be . . . deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law”.

The problem is we have allowed the left to define “life” into meaninglessness. A person has become just a thing that can be disposed of for any reason, or no reason.

“deal’ that the ‘whole country can agree with’?

WTH? It just got turned over to individual states, as it should be.

Trump seeks another deal. He makes deals.

He will never fight, even when his own political life is on the line.

“You can’t negotiate with evil, without evil touching you.”

This country gave in to this evil half a century ago. They make it an issue in every presidential election. There is no way for a pro life candidate to approach it when asked about it.

The problem is its root. The root of abortion is artificial birth control. Everyone wants it. They think it’s normal. They don’t see that it’s evil, luciferian.

You cannot have artificial birth control without abortion. BC of any kind is 98% effective when used correctly. Much less when not used correctly. The rest is covered with abortion. Birth control includes abortion Without it you have abstinence

That’s the issue. The president is always seen as the ruler of whether or not the country will have to face abstinence. Marriage and family has been abandoned long ago.

Trump can negotiate deals all day long. Any deal is made by getting down to who wants what. To face the natural law reality of what this is all about and what people really want is the only way to negotiate this as in any deal.

Rarely does anyone want to contemplate what this is really about.

People will elect a guy for president who can’t string a sentence together, who shows no competency to defend and protect the constitution, who answers to a foreign dictator of an enemy state. They’ll never talk about him in polite company for four years or admit to anything wrong with him. They’ll want him back.

He’s protecting and defending birth control. The de facto constitution

Here's Erik Latranyi's original comment to me:
Because you cannot dispute the direct quote from Trump, you attack the news organization that reported it.

You are incapable of intellectual discussion.

Erik always starts out with a personal insult. It's just what he does.

Now lock that bathroom door before you have your good cry.;-)

It was thrown back to the states, what part of this does Trump not understand. Federal laws for abortion, and marriage, are unconstitutional.

“I wish our side wouldnt make this an issue”

He’s always going to be asked about this. He has to answer. Elephant in tge room. It’s a huge issue.

Most on our side won’t admit what it’s really about or that they’re actually pro abortion.

I’m a Trump supporter but I also live in Florida and love DeSantis. Most of the Pro Life folks in this State wanted a full out
Ban with a few exceptions. The legislature was able to compromise and pass a six week limit which DeSantis signed. President Trump is making a mistake here, by bringing this back to the Federal level when it’s already been sent back to the States to decide by SCOTUS.

If a six week ban means that more blue haired liberal freaks leave Florida for more liberal pastures, I’m perfectly happy about that. Truthfully, I’m hoping for a national divorce in the sense that the Red States will get Redder, the Blue States Blue and folks can vote with their feet with strong Conservative State Governments that can nullify or Ignore Federal laws that the population disagrees with.

Trump will need the DeSantis people and DeSantis would need the Trump people, so hopefully it gets figured out after the primary.

Easy. All Trump (or any Republican) has to do is say that ending Roe allowed democracy to decide how much of a limit, if any, there should be on abortion. California does not need to agree with Alabama. Each can have their own policy.

With regard to protecting women, I oppose transgender men from competing in women's sports which denies women the records and scholarships they worked hard to earn.
