I crossed the equator. The day before, the men put on a show. Some were dressed as woman, but nothing like what is happening now. Ours was meant to be funny
You go, Coach Tubby.
The aftermath of tailhook turned the navy 180 degrees around. It was so bad that it leaked over into the air force and many o clubs shut down because, well, you weren’t allowed to have fun anymore.
Keelhaul him.
My Alabamian family mocks him. I ask for examples of his buffoonery. They got nothing.
Ha! Yep. Luther Billis in his coconut brassiere. I played the lead Emile DeBeque in a production of South Pacific many, many years ago. Fun show. We had a blast.
But isn’t “Rear” Admiral the appropriate rank for him (Her? It? Them?)?
Did you watch the 1939 videos in post 10 from the USS Marblehead?
I’m a bammer and the Auburn coach is legit.
Not recently. There is shellback ceremonies from the 1920’s. Now they were brutal at least by today’s standards. Had quite a few friends go through the ceremonies in the 60’s and 70’s.
That should nip that chit in the bud.
Not if a lib is involved. Nothing ever happened to Ralph Northam and worse, Ted Danson has continued to get TV series and commercials despite his very public appearance in blackface while he was involved with Whoopi Goldberg
It was fun. Not sexual indoctrination. Which is wholly what this business is.
People would laugh happily at Flip Wilson and Benny Hill because they recognized it as silly. This isn’t silly and isn’t for humor or fun.
People who say what is happening now is "humor" or "entertainment" and "people have been doing this for a long time" have only two excuses: They intentionally are not seeing it for their own purposes, or they really are that in-observant of the current state.
And I deliberately say in-observant to be polite.
That's what I can't quite figure out, why I'm curious.
I was based, long ago, at Cubi Point PI. I was on board USS Ranger when she had a port call at Pataya Beach, Thailand. (1989 +/-).
What exactly is this indoctrination? Done by the MWR department?
My son is a Marine Corp Officer, his college roommates are current USN officers. They aren't much different than I was, so I'm not sure the sailors have changed all that much either.
FYI, I'm not questioning the Senator, but there has to be more to this story.
Good.
Send him to establish an important US Naval base somewhere near the North pole.
Okay, I get the Drag Queen story hour is about grrooming kids etc. I get that.
This is an aircraft carrier. I've been on a number and did port calls. I've seen several aircraft carrier crews descend on Olongapo, PI.
In light of that knowledge, I'm struggling to wrap my head around this MWR drag show onboard a carrier????
there has to be more to this story.
I view it as indoctrination because the people doing the drag shows (and those pushing it from government and upper ranks) are not doing it to provide entertainment.
They are doing it to promote homosexuality as a tool to deconstruct the military in general and society in particular. And it was wholly sanctioned in that light by the Captain of the ship.
They are using it as a lever to enact social change.
Did you support open homosexuality when you served? I sure didn’t. I didn’t care as long as I didn’t have to see it, and they weren’t slurping on each other aboard ship. I figured that was their sexual peccadillo and their business, not mine.
You don’t see a difference between actors on a screen like Danny Thomas and Bing Crosby in “White Christmas”, some guy with coconuts for boobs (as my dad once did at the O-Club at the O-Club in Subic) or a guy wearing a dress and a head full of snakes for an equator crossing, as opposed to someone in command making a deliberate decision to bring someone on board a ship for a show BECAUSE he is a transvestite, and because it looks good in his record when he goes up for promotion with the woke SOB’s who are in charge now, after at least a decade of purges on those who believe the military is for warfighting, not social experimentation or transformation?
I don’t know what you were like in college or the Navy, so I cannot say what difference there might be between you back then and officers and sailors today, or your son and his college roommates.
But I do know one thing: Back then, if you expressed support for this kind of BS, your career would be over. Today, if you express any opposition to this BS, your career is over, and militantly so.
Good for Tuberville. Finally a Senator with a little backbone.
Yeah... it’s different. It’s the difference between Benny Hill or Flip Wilson and a pedophile at drag queen story hour twerking in a kid’s face.
Shellback ceremonies were mockery and fun. Drag queen parties in the modern Navy are immoral celebrations of homosexuality.
