This is a BIG problem. Takes a sophisticated operation to disappear 60,000 pounds of anything. So it was either a fed op or a foreign intelligence op. It would take a whole bunch of money to unload, gather up and transport. No dindu nuffin gang could pull this off.
Maybe there was a small hole in the bottom and the stuff just drizzled out over the miles.
If so, after it rains, they may have an abundance of vegetation growing up at the tracks.
First thing I thought of ... Ask Walter White what happened to it.
Oh, they’ll discovery it...eventually.
“So 30 tons just ‘fell’ from the rail car.
One of those things that ‘just happens’.”
Actually it does. lol
Most of those hopper cars are almost a hundred years old and worn out. The hopper doors in the bottom are so worn out and loose they can open a little every little bump they hit.
As kids we used to go out and walk down the line and pick up Glass marbles and chunks of coal that had fell out of the bottom hopper doors. It was nothing to collect a pick up load of coal that fell out every 5 miles of track. Of course it was not all from one car, but it does happen and that car of Ammonium Nitrate came a long way leaky.
Note the discharge chutes on the bottom. Leave one or more of those slightly open, and the contents will dribble out.
“Maybe there was a small hole in the bottom and the stuff just drizzled out over the miles.”
Yes, best case situation right here. The hopper doors in the bottom vibrate open and drizzle product quite often. It is a common thing with those.
and the rest of us.
Could it have been some of the 5 million illegal aliens brandon has let? 🤔
Yep...
Hopper cars make nice “tricklers” if somebody forgets to lock the dump gates. But it’s about 1,000 miles from Cheyenne to Mojave so if the stuff trickled all the way we’re gonna see the worlds longest wild flower garden after the next big rain.
So thats what all the military age Chinese men are doing when they cross the southern boarder.
Somebody better be examining the tracks to see if that is really what happened.
FBI pulling something out of the McVeigh playbook?
Foul play is not suspected yet, but the loss of a hazardous chemical is just the latest rail problem in the past several months.
Calling Buttguy. Maybe have someone from your office see if they can find a 30 ton pile of stuff that fell of a train. Maybe use 10 or 20 FBI guys, 10 to search and 10 to watch the searchers.
If it wasn’t stolen it leaked out over a bunch miles. Look for really green grass.
If it’s a bottom dump and the doors don’t properly close, there could be a 30 tonne trail
“Ammonium nitrate was the explosive in the massive bomb used in the Oklahoma City terror attack of 1995.”
False. The explosive in that attack was ANFO, a mixture of Ammonium Nitrate and Fuel Oil (kerosene). Ammonium nitrate by itself is relatively harmless.
It’s not likely anyone would bother to mount such an operation to steal ammonium nitrate when they could walk into any garden or farm store in the country and buy as much of it as they want.
