‘Fools!’: Donald Trump blames Ron DeSantis for Democrat winning Jax mayoral race

'Ron’s magic is GONE!' Former President Donald Trump is weighing in on the Jacksonville mayoral race, which saw a Democrat win just months after Republicans carried the state handily.

On Truth Social, Trump said Republican Daniel Davis’ “shocker” loss to Democrat Donna Deegan came down to Team Davis courting Ron DeSantis’ endorsement instead of that of the former President.

“In a big upset, the DeSanctimonious backed Republican candidate for Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, LOST. This is a shocker. If they would have asked me to Endorse, he would have won, easily. Too proud to do so,” Trump said.

“Fools! This is a BIG LOSS for the Republican Party,” Trump added. “Remember, ‘Rob’ only won because of me!!!”

In a follow-up post, Trump doubled down.

“Ron’s magic is GONE! He also lost, shockingly, in Jacksonville last night (Mayor).”

DeSantis endorsed Davis after the First Election in March, which saw Davis rebuff three other Republican candidates to emerge into the General Election with roughly a quarter of the vote, 15 points behind first-place Deegan.

Jacksonville has a voter registration advantage for Democrats, with 40% of the electorate registered Democrat and just 35% Republican, according to the most recent L2 voter data. But Republicans, as typically happens in local elections, won the turnout battle Tuesday, with a 7,100-vote advantage translating to an R+3.25 map.

Yet despite the GOP turnout advantage, it was clear that crossover Republicans and no-party voters turned out for Deegan, with the DeSantis endorsement apparently not being a factor to unify the party. Word was that the DeSantis endorsement was contingent on Davis not chasing Trump’s backing, in yet another sign of Republicans being compelled to pick sides.

DeSantis offered paper endorsements, but never came to Jacksonville to help the candidates he backed. Nor did he offer a robocall or other material support.

Davis wasn’t the only DeSantis-endorsed loser Tuesday.

Property Appraiser candidate Jason Fischer touted his DeSantis endorsement ahead of the March election, which gave him a ticket to the May runoff. But he lost to Democrat Joyce Morgan.

I’m actually for Trump.

----

Nope. That's just gaslighting....

From observations, you're up there with several of the most prolific desantis supporters/nevertrumpers in attacking Trump and supporting desantis.

I checked and others can check too.

And for everyone else, don't get suckered in and lied to by people who want you to stop attacking desantis because 'they voted for/supported Trump, but....'.

Nevertrumpers in the past use that lie 'I voted for Trump once, twice, etc' to gain empathy from you, then use that to cast doubt and change your mind against Trump.

And the desantis supporters/likely past nevertrumpers are using the same tactics now.

But back to the original question, Responsibility2nd still hasn't said why someone as deceitful as desantis, to be president.

Trump needs to be boosting the positive things he accomplished as president and how he will deliver more of the same. “Focus” should be his campaign mantra. Instead he is reminding undecided voters of why his personality can really turn them off from voting for him. Even when it is in their best interests. Hello Soccer Moms.

Oh yeah I can because your question is nonsensical.

You approve of it when Desanctimonious does it but not when Trump does it coz… well orange man bad.

There’s only one candidate in Florida taking money from McConnell, Ryan and Bush and it’s not Trump.

Three gop primary had way too many candidates splitting funds before main election. 4 dem Deegan who keeps eye on ball to be a senator in a weak dem state is media darling having been a news reader before turning pol. Lastly only gop state official I saw supporting incumbent was Rick Scott our senator. Jax gets what they deserve, a womyn’s rights first person. At least she is not a minority.T

Sad considering the number claiming to be Christian.

The largest religious group in Jacksonville is Protestant, with about 365,000 Evangelical Protestants, 76,000 Mainline Protestants, and 57,000 Black Protestants and 1,200 congregations of various denominations. There are also 133,000 Catholics in the greater Jacksonville area, 15,000 members of the LDS Church, 8,500 Muslims, 6,000 Jews, 4,500 Hindus, 3,500 Buddhists and 650 Baha'is in the city. Jacksonville is home to the 10th largest Arab population in the United States as well as the largest Filipino American community in Florida. - https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-cities/jacksonville-fl-population
According to the most recent ACS, the racial composition of Jacksonville was:

“Maybe it’s all part of that 4 level chess I keep hearing about.”

Not on your life my friend.......just like the kraken will be released, the red wave is real and covid shots are safe and effective.......ake no mistake, it’s a myth and nothing more.

As far as attacks, being presidential hasn’t ever been Trumps forte......that and picking

The childish savagery of the “Trump is God” posters here is growing more and more tiresome. I wonder how many have given this site a pause just to avoid their rants?

I doubt the label Statesman will ever appear under Trump’s portrait. Which is fine with me. I do hope if he is ever re-elected he makes better choices in advisors and appointments.

That doesn’t mean the endorsement wasn’t a factor or that the outcome wouldn’t have been different if Rob had campaigned for Davis, or if Davis had sought and received Trump’s endorsement.

Desperate Donald Trump is a pathetic man who wants to lead the Republican Party to 2024 defeat.

That’s untrue, and blatantly so - which means it’s a lie, unless you were just too lazy to check your facts. Leaving aside your mis-characterization of DeSantis’s visit, Trump’s rally was cancelled due to tornado warning. The warnings were real and you can easily verify it if you make the effort.

Trump has yet to speak to anything but a packed house. Every one of Trump’s events outdraws any DeSantis event. Your boy just doesn’t have it. That will be painfully obvious when he starts holding rallies of his own.

Leaving some of obamas people in place was an epic blunder IMO....I absolutely couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

That’s POTUS 101. You always kick the last presidents people out ASAP. ESPECIALLY when their democrats.

I agree, sad it is. Watching the run up to the elction, I told my wife, she will win. Too much division on our side, no consistent message. She had not a thing to run on, only known as news reader and for running a breast cancer run every year. Largest city in gop hands in US goes down the drain.

Trump is giving DeSantis the JEB Bush treatment, and we all remember how effective that was. It will lead to the same result, with DeSantis. DeSantis will ultimately be a forgotten foot note, Trump will be the nominee, and he’ll beat Biden, just as he did in 2020. The only thing that can stop him is election fraud. If you care so much about Republicans losing in 2024, that’s what you should be focusing on.

The proof is in the results, Donna Deegan won and she is a terrible person in her personal life, but she ran a good campaign by unifying the Democrats while the Republicans savaged each other and were split with some staying home.

Enjoy the next 4 years because Jacksonville could get very interesting.

——————————————————

I reject the premise that Desantis is deceitful. Especially considering the great things he has done as Governor.

And I throw my question back to you. If not Trump, then who?

Oh I know. You just won’t vote. That’s what I hear from all only Trumpers. Trump or I stay home.
