{African American} Calif. lawmaker warns Black residents to be ‘realistic’ on reparations: Seven figure checks ‘just not happening’

California Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford is warning African Americans not to get their “hopes up” for massive reparations payments from the state.

Bradford’s message comes after the California Reparations Task Force recommended over the weekend that the state pay up to $1.2 million in reparations to each eligible Black resident.

The state lawmaker, who served on the task force, claimed that it’s possible that Black residents could receive cash payments “if the money’s there,” but argued that receiving million dollar checks in repayment for historical discrimination is “not happening.”

The reparations panel held a public meeting in Oakland, California, on Saturday and voted on the final set of recommendations to be sent to the state’s legislators.

... {skipping to last line of story}

Earlier estimates predicted reparations could end up costing as much as $800 billion, while California’s total annual state budget is roughly $300 billion.

This all reminds me of when I was in a breakfast buffet line. There was a young inner city youth next to me. When he came up to the bacon. The cook asked how many slices, with wide eyes the 7 year old said “ About a hundred”

If anyone in that never-had-slavery state gets one dollar for any kind of “reparations”, then everyone who comes from a family of people who actually work and no family member has gotten any form of welfare should file a monster class action suit-all the way back to LBJ and the beginning of his “great society” welfare giveaway to Black people almost exclusively by his own admission-make them liable for the monetary hardship of working class families all the way back to the early 60’s-my parents and everyone like them started paying with their taxes for that fiasco and have ever since...

I remember how horrified and disgusted my parents were about all that-as a kid I didn’t really get what they were saying about ruining the families and destroying the desire to work and be successful of future generations of Black kids-but by the time I got to college, I knew what they meant just by interacting with students from welfare families-they didn’t have jobs to pay for school, rent, etc like most of us, but they had free apartments in the projects, special govt loans for tuition that only Blacks seemed to get, etc-they always had money for beer and weed and some of them sold weed and did other illegal things for cash. I paid for my own education, food and housing working as a cocktail waitress-damn right myself and every working class person just like me deserves reparations in the amount those welfare kids got...
