Russians have been throwing numbers of will-be-corpses at taking Bakhmut. Just when it seems they’re giving up, Ukraine starts ceding territory bit by bit, encouraging the Russians to continue to divert resources and accept otherwise unacceptable kill ratios. Even simply occupying buildings worsens the kill ratio and the buildings are commonly set to explode. THIS IS WHAT THE RUSSIANS have been saying is happening!!!!
Now, imagine that these cessions have been just enough to keep Russians nibbling at the bait, but here comes spear!
(Yes, I know... the neo-Soviet apologist wing of FReepers thinks all is going just swimmingly in Bakhmut and that those 45,000 missing prisoner-soldiers were simply assumed into Heaven for their immaculate saintliness.)
The most likely proximate objective is Melitopol, from a strategic point of view, of Ukrainian war objectives. Not Red Square.

a few rears ago I got interested about Ukraine and started reading it’s history and it’s current (at the time) mess. It was the escape for the Nazis running from Germany at the end of WWII. I can’t recall all the things that was going on there by criminals (like the Bidens). Raping the whole world. It was just beginning to break out more about what was happening when the war broke out. Just the little I could comprehend sounded like a threat to the world. So excuse me if I say that Russia seems less a threat to the world.
Putin broke numerous treaties in invading neighboring Ukraine in Europe, becoming a rogue nation. That same Russia still has thousands of nuclear warheads targeting the US. Let me know what "threat" Ukraine is to the world.

It's happening! Ukraine's President Zelensky has met with executives from BlackRock to auction off Ukraine for profit. He solicited this in a recent speech and now it is happening. In case you were wondering who would be enriched by this war: big business. Not you.

This is totally nuts. I have no axe to grind here and don’t care who wins. But this Nazi stuff about Ukraine is total BS.
On the left you have a Russian company (Wagner) paid by the Kremlin. They are leveling Ukrainian cities and villages, killing thousands of Ukrainian people. They are land-grabbing large Ukrainian territories in true acts of stealing and robbery. They act like lefty ANTIFA thugs, burning down everything they see.
On the right you have an American company (BlackRock) ready to reconstruct whole of Ukraine. BlackRock is not using bombs, tanks, and missiles to level Ukraine.
So... between those two companies, as an Ukrainian, which one of these would you chose?

Update on the conflict in Ukraine for May 13, 2023:
- Russian media space panics over false claims of Ukraineās offensive beginning;
- The trading of territory in Bakhmut is typical of urban combat operations and does not indicate a āmomentum shiftā until the vector sum of the fighting begins favoring Ukraine rather than Russian forces;
- Additional evidence has surfaced that Ukraine is using some of its best military hardware in and around Bakhmut including German-made self-propelled howitzers, indicating that Russian plans to draw in and destroy Ukraineās best troops and equipment is working;
- Ahead of Ukraineās offensive, both sides are conducting long-range strikes. For Russia it is about disrupting Ukraineās offensive potential. For Ukraine it is about shaping the psychological and media landscape of the conflict;
- The Storm Shadow cruise missile is air-launched and for targets deep inside Russian territory to be under threat, Ukrainian warplanes must travel dangerously close ot the line of contact and expose themselves to Russian air defenses. The missiles themselves must circumvent Russian air defense systems and electronic warfare measures;
- The terrain mapping feature most likely will require intelligence sharing between Ukraine and the US-UK in order to make the missileās use most effective;
- While Storm Shadow missiles and other long-range weapons Ukraine may have will inevitably make it through to their targets these are not capabilities Russia doesnāt already have and in greater abundance. If these are war-winning capabilities, Russia is going to win the war first;
