On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) argued that President Joe Biden should use the 14th Amendment to raise the debt limit unilaterally if the House — which has passed a bill to raise the debt limit — “will not act” and “refuses to do its job.” And that he believes that “if things can get done by executive order — and then let them play out in the courts.
Host Andrea Mitchell asked, “In 2011, you were one of several Democrats urging then-President Obama to invoke the 14th Amendment during that debt limit crisis. Should that option now be on the table?”

Stroke of the pen, law of the land...kinda cool.
Unless a Republican is in office.
He wants it to be.
To the evil and treacherous Left the only thing necessary for something government does to be “lawful” is if they deem if so.
Who needs a Constitution anymore, amirite!
No, he thinks we are China and Biden is Mao.
Eh, it won’t get that far. A deal will be reached. Neither side will be happy, but a deal will be reached.
...or you twits in DC could quit spending like drunken sailors.
Okay, Clyburn. If Biden does that, then McCarthy should unilaterally not count any of your House votes.
The House ‘ACTED’, James.......................
Il Duce has spoken!!
More and more I'm beginning to agree with him.
As a hard ball, to raise the debt ceiling there must be amendments to the legislation raising the debt ceiling that immediately close the border to all lacking visas and pass ports
Put the President out of business if he and his congressional minions won’t close the border
Clyburn would be singing a different tune if a Republican were sitting in the White House.
As a formerly drunken Sailor, I take offense by your remark. Drunken Sailors are far more responsible with their money than any of our politicians. When we went broke and could not borrow, we stopped drinking until the next payday. We could not spend air and fake funds the way DC does.
The 14th amendment has a clause saying something about how the public debt will not be questioned, or must be paid.
So these people are interpreting it to mean, that the bills or liabilities of the federal government must be paid, without regard to Legal limits such as the debt ceiling.
Yeah. I think that is the purview of the Congress not the President.
But I’m sure Clyburn would support a Republican President doing the job of the Congress as well . . .
Why not Joe is King of the US
“Constitution!!!! We don’t need no steenkin’ Constitution!”
Commie Rats don’t even pretend to acknowledge the Constitution and its wisdom and value anymore.
