Police no longer have to protect you, and can now shoot you and the court says it is okay. No reasonable way to defend this.

Hypothesis: To an honest citizen, the police are a greater threat than are common criminals.

Observation: The police are allowed to shoot honest citizens with impunity. Criminals are forbidden to do so.

Observation: At least in some jurisdictions, honest citizens are still allowed to shoot common criminals. Honest citizens are forbidden to shoot the police.

Further observations, and intelligent discussion, are welcome.

When you can shoot the hostages before you start the negotiating, it sends a strong message to the criminal.

I get that cops have a dangerous job, and often have to make difficult decisions. But damn it, do they no longer have any sense of decency?

The gunfire is now over. The hostage is laying on the ground, all shot up. From the article:

The trooper in the cruiser can be heard saying, “hey, all’s well that ends well.” The officer on the phone added, “Amen.”

The trooper summed up the conversation. “As long as none of us gets hurt, we’re making memories.”

It’s easy to be a policeman, in a police state.

So on the hook if someone resists arrests and dies but not for shooting a hostage? Not on the hook for damage to property in the cause of pursuing a suspect either. Hmmm.

Well the folks keep saying if you don’t want to get shot comply. I guess that includes don’t let your kidnapper force you to not comply.

The police have never had a duty of care. Read the case law involving that question.

From that Sandra Bullock movie, The Bus:

Harry Temple : Alright, pop quiz. Airport, gunman with a hostage. He’s using her for cover. He’s almost to a plane. You’re one hundred feet away.

[Jack doesn’t respond]

Harry Temple : Jack?

Jack : Shoot the hostage.

Harry Temple : What?

Jack : Take her out of the equation. Go for the good wound and he can’t get to the plane with her. Clear shot.

Harry Temple : You’re deeply nuts, you know that? “Shoot the hostage.”

[chuckles]

Jack : Harry, this is wrong. He’s gonna blow it anyway.

Harry Temple : Why?

Jack : I don’t know, gut feeling.

Harry Temple : Yeah, well, right now Mac outranks your gut. So we sit.

Jack : How much you think that elevator weights?

Harry Temple : Jack, come on!

Jack : Maybe we can do something about those hostages.

Harry Temple : We’re not gonna shoot em right?

The police had every reason to believe they were targeting the fugitive. The police were told the fugitive was driving the truck and they targeted the driver of the truck. Instead the fugitive was on the floor of the truck. IOW, mistaken identity.

Cops are far to dangerous to allow them to have guns.

C’mon...During the summer of 2020 leftist riots, innocent people were being assaulted en mass, on video, right in front of the cops, who did nothing to stop it.

Thirty eight comments and not one with the idea that police were never in the public protection business. That’s a mafia endeavour. Police tape off the scene, draw pictures of the crime scene, and begin an investigation.

With apologies to the Policeman who took out the Allen Texas shooter before he took out a hundred people.

Imagine the howlings if the court had ruled:

A federal appeals court has ruled citizens can shoot police — even intentionally — if they fear for their lives If our live mean nothing for them to worry about wiping out, same=same seems fair.

As long as the Police do it, it is ok. According to Free Republic Dogma. Ever since I been here the Police have been worshiped as gods. Criticize their actions, one is labeled a Cop hater.

The only caveat being that the victim can't be Black. Then said Cop is up shit Creek without a paddle.
