The chief executive of Anheuser-Busch InBev has blamed misinformation on social media for stoking a conservative consumer boycott of Bud Light after the best-selling US beer was promoted by a transgender influencer.
Bud Light has become the target of a fierce backlash since Dylan Mulvaney posted a video last month on Instagram, where she has 1.8mn followers, featuring a custom-made beer can provided by the brewery that was emblazoned with an image of her face.
The rightwing boycott has led sales volumes of the beer to drop by a quarter, while two Bud Light executives have taken leaves of absence.

I’ve seen comparisons of this to the New Coke.
Now the problem with this is really simple; Coca Cola sales SPIKED after that mistake. It took a proposed change in formula to make people realize they really did love the product that may have been going away. The protest was in favor for the company not changing anything.
The head of marketing stayed on and wrote a book about it. However this is one time in marketing history a mistake was turned into a positive.
The other crisis mentioned was Tylenol as a textbook example of how to save and rehabilitate a brand in the worst of circumstances.
Bud Light has done absolutely nothing to rehabilitate the brand or enhance or make people love the product more that they may have liked previously.
This is about the worst corporate decision making I have ever seen.
Somebody needs to pry the shovel from his cold dead hands.
He must be on his period.
It would be easier just to throw the ivy leaguer under the bus but they can’t really do that because upper mgmt was in on it from the beginning.
The impression I got is they’re trying to change the narrative......bud light is now the victim and it’s all the “right wingers” fault.
This company is flailing wildly and is getting a hard but much needed lesson in REAL reality......everything that is happening to them is justly deserved.
Over the years, my brother has mentored struggling new young employees to the point of "getting it." His capstone, closer speech is now something like, "Yeah, it's a pain in the neck to do it that way, but that is how the job is set up here. It's called work. You do it how they want and are reasonably good at it, and they give you a paycheck every couple of weeks, with stock options, retirement match, pay raises, and an annual bonus. You dress better, get a nice car, get married, buy a house, have kids, save and invest, and eventually you retire with a million or two in cash and stock and other assets -- you may even retire years early or go somewhere else and do even better. How's that for a life purpose -- having a good life for yourself and your family."
My brother has seen superficially unpromising kids as new employees shape up and quickly become solid, reliable workers and genuinely good people. And some have even asked him, quietly, by the way, "What do you think about who to vote for this year?"
“upper mgmt was in on it from the beginning”
The finger pointing in the boardroom must be epic. LOL!
I hope woke corporate America is watching and getting the message.
“...Do you think Bruce Jenner should be able to walk about in our daughters’ locker rooms?”
I’m not positive but didn’t Bruce Jenner had the full monty removed?
Thanks for the positive news.
You would hope, but I doubt it......the woke never seem to learn their lesson, they just double down and lash out....that’s what comes from Haughtiness and refual to humble oneself.
To me it really does remind me of the story of sodom and gomorrah.
InBev is caught on the horns.
They made both sides angry.
Part of me wonders if this was an intentional hit. Right, left, or center, no one is happy at bud right now.
It helps to keep in mind Margaret Thatcher’s point that “The facts of life are conservative.”
Misinformation?
That dude in a dress and makeup was parading himself all over social media with your product prominently displayed, A-B.
Your firm was celebrating him. Right in our faces.
Nice try, though.
Help me out with my Nissan Murano made in Alabama and my Ford Bronco Sport made in Mexico.
I went to dinner Saturday night at a nice restaurant/bed & breakfast here in southern NH. This is a small place that just reopened recently under new ownership. I asked the bartender who is a friend of mine and the manager IF they had sold any Bud Light lately? His reply was: “not a one”
Then he told me how he cancelled the order for another keg he had on order and switched it to another brand.
*** But, you just know it was a trial balloon on social media to see how it was received. If it hadn’t been boycotted, they would have brought out that formal advertisement waiting in the wings.***

That’s brilliant.
IOWs stifle free speech so we can survive...
What a piss ant..
No misinformation at all: You used a tranny to push your beer and people didn’t like it one bit.
