and then you run the mower three times as long to cut the high grass. I had to cut the front twice already. I live a mile or two from springfield. as i have mostly weeds i will be tilling it all up soon. i specifically bought a gas mower, gas power washer, gas weed whacker, gas tiller, and you guessed it, gas chain saw. i think my neighbor bought a battery chain saw. I heard them once try to cut some twigs with it. once, never again.

We really need to reduce emissions from Liberals/DemocRATs/Commies. For The Children, of course.

MOST HOA’s have very strict rules about landscape maintenance.

Goats would keep the grass nibbled low as well, but they are probably likely to jump over any fences or gates. Goats were born to jump and climb about.

Gonna start putting out flyers if this takes hold around here - basically, officially looking notices that say that the yard looks like crap. Make it look like its from the city but really isn’t.

Bureaucrats and their stupid ideas. Really good at telling successful, well functioning people what to do with their lawn, toilet or car. Not so good at telling momma to stop letting the kids beat shit out of each other or search their rooms for guns and drugs.

I like the smell of newly mowed grass. It seems like the essence of Sunny Weather Days. Add this to the Coo of the morning Pigeon and the shrieks of red wing Crows.

I cut down a tree leaning toward our home with an electric chain saw. It got the job done and then some.

I grew up in Delco. Springfield was a NIMBY-mindset area back in the day. They fancied themselves to be the Main Line. It seems nothing has changed.

F all these idiots. Period. I’ll mow my lawn when I want to mow my lawn, and with the tool of my choice.

I have a little over a month out of each spring and summer when my grass grows thick and lush, and looks absolutely lovely. Guess when? May. After the first feeding of the year and during a period cool weather and and decent natural watering from spring rains.

In May, it grows well enough that I often have to cut it twice in a week. And I actually enjoy doing it because it looks so nice being clipped to a uniform height across the yard.

By the third week of June, it’s usually hot enough that a purple cast comes over the lawn and growth of my cool season grass slows considerably and it starts going to seed. Now it’s time for the weeds to take over, because the don’t care if it’s hot or dry. Eventually, it gets to the point where I get disgusted and don’t cut it for two or three weeks because it’s hard to see where the previous cut path was. How ‘bout I substitute a No-Mow Midsummer’, instead, you bloody a-holes? You should be happy because I won’t be letting toxic vapors escape into the hot summer air while I hold the lid open on my NASA-designed red plastic gas can with the Jaws-of-Life to refill it with that special ‘summer-blend’ fuel they’re peddling at that time of year.

We plant flowers to provide a pleasant site and attract pollinators. Sorry, but if bees want to get their pollen from a yard filled with dandelions, they’re gonna have to buzz their little wings to somebody else’s yard. I have a few dandelions, but I’m not letting them get out of control for some hysterical environmental wacko.

At the risk of repeating myself, F these idiots...

But if you grass is growing quickly and complaints come in, you will get a visit from the local police or other community official. You could not mow and just pay the fines - your choice.

"...Add this to the Coo of the morning Pigeon and the shrieks of red wing Crows."

Almost as satisfying as the shrieks of whiny liberals upset because I'm gonna cut my grass at least once a week this month, with my GASOLINE-powered mower.

In Oregon you’d be in serious trouble for catching rain in barrels, it’s their water and you better not try storing any. Here’s a guideline from Portland.gov: “Rainwater harvesting, collecting and storing stormwater runoff for non-potable uses within a house or building or as part of an irrigation system, requires permits and the help of a professional.”

The expert on a gardening show I listen to says there are pros & cons to doing this. ‘No Mow May’ may help pollinators such as bees. But the downsides include having more ticks and mosquitoes because the lawn grew taller. You then must use more insecticides and treatments to kill those problems later in summer.

A city near me, Appleton WI., instituted a no mow May ordinance a few years ago. Now they are considering rescinding it because the research paper it was based on turned out to be faulty. However, there is a lot of opposition to rescinding it because now the idea of no mow May is so entrenched in the local population as being “good”.

1. I have allergies. I suspect they would get worse if the growth in my yard goes to seed.

2. My yard is small. We use a push mower.

3. If it weren’t for my wife and my lack of finances, I would just pave the whole darn thing. I am perfectly happy to pave paradise.

Liberals never think ahead. Never. It’s always do what feels good at the moment.
This scheme is just another example.

I bought a Ryobi battery powered lawn mower back in 1997. I had a smaller sized lawn, took about 20-25 minutes to mow with a walking mower. The Ryobi worked fine, a charge lasted about 30 minutes, so I was good.

Ran over an unseen rock a little smaller than a golf ball one day. The rock jammed between the blade and the housing, the blades stopped and the electric motor burnt out instantly.

I bought a Honda gas mower after that, which I used for the next 20 years. The Ryobi mower worked fine. I’m sure the battery powered mowers are much better now, but no way do I see a commercial lawn service being able to use battery powered mowers, moving from one job to the next and mowing lawns for hour after hour during the day.

I will say that a battery powered mower was much less trouble, never had to fool with gas and oil, started instantly, had enough power for grass that was normal length.
