'In the absence of ammunition they're doomed to perish senselessly,' Yevgeny Prigozhin says
Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of Russia's Wagner Group mercenary force, said in a sudden and dramatic announcement on Friday that his forces would pull out of the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut that they have been trying in vain to capture since last summer.
Prigozhin said they would withdraw on May 10 — ending their involvement in the longest and bloodiest battle of the war — because of heavy losses and inadequate ammunition supplies. He asked defence chiefs to insert regular army troops in their place.
"I declare on behalf of the Wagner fighters, on behalf of the Wagner command, that on May 10, 2023, we are obliged to transfer positions in the settlement of Bakhmut to units of the defence ministry and withdraw the remains of Wagner to logistics camps to lick our wounds," Prigozhin said in a statement...

Russia is doing this to Wagner so they can declare victory and not wagner.
It’s more like the Dallas Cowboy’s playing Podunk HS and winning by only 2 points. And they are so beat up they can’t play next week.
It really is remarkable at how terrible Russia’s military has performed.
No, it isn’t. Ukraine is in an existential fight for its very survival; Russia is not. Ukraine posed no threat whatsoever to Russia; it especially posed no existential threat.
>> Go ahead and tell them
In an authoritarian personal dictatorship system only one person’s opinion matters anyway.
this is the (false) foundation of all neocon bullshit regarding Ukraine.
Isolationist drivel
“this is the (false) foundation of all neocon bullshit regarding Ukraine.”
Nice try, kid. Russia is an eleven time-zone country, and Ukraine is a one time-zone country; Russia’s population is more than three times that of Ukraine; Russia’s GDP dwarfed that of Ukraine; Russia’s military, overall, is far more formidable than Ukraine’s.
Russia wanted the natural resources and minerals of eastern Ukraine. That is the reason for this war in a nutshell.
But, that is the foundation of this war that neocom(munists) avoid like the plague.
Yeah, even if they lost one time zone, no one would even notice! Gibs me dat!
Wasn't that the basis of the "Lebensraum" argument?
“Yeah, even if they lost one time zone, no one would even notice! Gibs me dat! Wasn’t that the basis of the ‘Lebensraum’ argument?”
Are you actually implying that Ukraine wanted to take part of Russia for living space?
LOL now comparing Biden to Reagan?
The USA and Reagan objectives in Afghanistan were clearcut - all part of the effort to bog down the Soviet Union and keep them from getting a breakout all the way south into Iran’s and Iraq’s oil fields and perhaps to menace India as well.
The Biden and USA objectives in Ukraine aren’t nearly as evident or beneficial to us.
Do we have to add RDS Prime to the list of derangement syndromes that afflict Freepers?
TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome)
RDS Beta (DeSantis Derangement Syndrome)
RDS Prime (Reagan Derangement Syndrome)

So Reagan wanted to bog Russia down in a country with no importance to the USA, so as to keep them from other countries that were not our friends or allies either - as if Russia was even capable of doing that.
Biden wants to bog down/defeat Russia in a country with little importance to the USA to keep it from encroaching on our western allies.
History may not repeat but it rhymes.
I like Reagan. No RDS here. Biden is doing similar to what Reagan did.
Who cares if Afghanistan was important to us? It was important to RUSSIA, and by extension us. Important for the strategic reasons I stated.
The 1980s existential threat posed by the USSR were clearcut.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine isn’t as clearcut an existential threat.
Of course, Germany’s lebensraum quest in 1938 in the Sudetenland wasn’t an existential threat to the USA and England and France either —
-— until it was
Also glad to see at least one other Freeper likes Ronald Reagan as well.
Reagan Derangement Syndrome is a real ailment on Free Republic due to the quest by many Freepers to belittle Reagan so they can put President Trump on Mt. Rushmore.

Same for Ukraine.
There are many here who think we shouldnt care about Ukraine. I think we should for strategic reaaons as we did for Afghanistan. So we are both singing out of the same hymnbook.
