A California YMCA which was at the center of a locker room controversy has re-opened its doors after a $70,000 remodel.
The new facilities at Cameron Family YMCA in Santee, San Diego County, come after multiple protests erupted when a teenager claimed she ran to hide in the showers after seeing the bare backside a transgender woman in the locker room.
The month-long project included adding privacy stalls in both the women's and men's locker rooms to allow members to change behind closed doors.
Rows of benches surrounded by raised walls and a door to allow people to change without showering have also been installed.
Under new rules, public nudity is also now banned at the facility.
In January, Rebecca Philips, 17, addressed a city council meeting in Santee about the 'trauma' she experienced at seeing a transgender woman in the locker room at the Cameron Family YMCA in December 2022.
She sobbed as she spoke about encountering what she described as a 'naked male' after swimming at the facility.
'As I was showering after my workout I saw a naked male in the women's locker room,' she said.
'I immediately went back into the shower, terrified, and hid behind their flimsy excuse for a curtain until he was gone.'
Philips did not name the woman, who was later revealed to be 66-year-old Christynne Wood.
Wood started transitioning in 2016 and as of December 2021, had not yet undergone bottom surgery.
In 2021, she issued a lawsuit against a branch of Crunch Gym, where she'd been told she couldn't use the women's locker rooms unless she had gender reassignment surgery.
Philips later clarified that she had not seen a penis, but had only seen Wood's 'backside'.

Something very similar happened up here at the Y in Port Townsend, Washington. An eighty year old woman who had been swimming there everyday for decades, noted a tranny was in the locker room, along with several young girls. She made mention to this person that she was uncomfortable with them being there.
It turns out they were an employee. Someone else then showed up and rebuked her for her ‘phobia’. She was later kicked out of the Y and banned for life.
San Diego bureaucrats also voted to purchase 3 hotels to house the bums. When you do the math (classic 2+2=4 math, not woke math) each hotel room costs $600,000. It is sooooo easy to spend other people’s money.
No, no kidding. I was about 8 years old when I took swimming lessons at the YMCA.
It was the mandatory nude swimming in Spokane Washington in the 1950’s.
There was a great big sign painted on the wall in the windowless swimming pool room.
For some strange reason I never figured out, the entire room including the ceiling was painted silver.
The teacher made everyone line up facing the pool, naked of course while he told us what each day’s lesson would include.
I was too young and innocent to look for any camera.

That certainly was not the case at the Y where I live. Not only did they have swimsuits but everyone wore the same ones because it was a swim team and it was mandatory that everyone wear a swim cap on their head so hair did not get in the filters.
In Oregon you’re required to take a shower before you enter the pool to swim. Also, everyone is naked when they change from their bathing suits into their clothes.
Perhaps you weren’t aware that people took off their clothes when showering or changing their clothes in YMCA locker rooms?
Traninsanity hasn’t happened yet in little ol’ Grants Pass, but supposedly in Medford there was a man who walked into a women’s shower pretending to be a woman.
I have no idea when that’ll happen here but I know quite a few women who shower in the Y locker rooms who’ll be very unhappy with that lunacy!

You can’t just install one shower for the freaks. Then they’ll sue you for discrimination and win. You have to make everyone shower privately, or nobody can be safe.

Customers used to wander around naked, until this practice was banned? What kind of place is this anyway?
Back in 1990 or so our wonderful little “Tiny Tots” parent volunteer preschool program met an an old, little farmhouse in town that must have been built in 1920 or so. It had a wide front porch and the normal three wooden steps you would find going up to the porch. Nobody had a problem with it for 40 years until some parent sued because their handicapped kid couldn’t get access. They forced us to spend big bucks to put in an ADA ramp.
Guess what happened next? Those parents never did enroll their kid in our school and the kid never attended. They just wanted to flex their ADA muscle around town.
We have a wonderful cook’s store downtown that has front and rear entrances. The rear entrance requires you to walk down TWO steps. If the steps bother you, it’s a short distance around the building from the rear to the front on smooth asphalt and concrete sidewalk with nary a barrier anywhere.
I went to the store a couple weeks back and the back door was locked. A sign said “Use front door.” I asked the nice woman at the register why the back door was locked. She said we have a guy in town who must make a living off of ADA lawsuits. He scouts the town searching for ADA violations and sues or threatens to sue. In this COVID age, the store and landlord could not afford the ADA compliance remodeling so they simply locked the back door. Tens of thousands of customers go to the store over time and, all the years I’ve been using it, I’ve never ONCE seen a wheelchair customer in the store. But now NO ONE can use the backdoor because of one kook filing frivolous lawsuits seeking to get rich.
The country is totally insane.
