Atlanta: ‘Active shooter’ reported at Midtown medical building, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta police are responding to an “active shooter” at a medical complex in Midtown. According to officials, multiple people were injured and taken to Grady Hospital. No suspect is in custody, police said.

“Anyone in the area is asked to secure their building and continue to shelter in place. Anyone not in the area is asked to stay away,” APD said in a statement.

This happened at 1100 West Peachtree Street in a building that houses several medical offices and is operated by Northside Hospital.

I think the shooting location was a medical office building, not a real hospital.

It is all very confusing. It appears Northside Medical Midtown includes Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Institute-Midtown Atlanta and other medical specialties.

Northside proper is a real hospital with an emergency dept. Same for Northside Cherokee and Northside Forsyth, both of which are well north of Northside proper. Northside Midtown is a huge MOB., that might look like a hospital to many.

Confused yet? It is sort of like Atlanta and Peachtree Streets.
