The poll published on Tuesday shows that 56 percent of potential Republican primary voters back Trump for the nomination. He sits 34 points ahead of DeSantis, who has not announced a White House bid, at 22 percent. DeSantis has gained slightly compared to last week’s poll, which had him and the 45th president at 24 percent and 58 percent, respectively.

Beyond Trump and DeSantis, no other candidate commands double-digit support. Seven percent of respondents back former Vice President Mike Pence, followed by former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) in fourth place with four percent. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswmy is backed by three percent of the respondents, followed by former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) at two percent.
Govs. Greg Abbott (R-TX) and Kristi Noem (R-SD) tie at two percent, while Gov. Glen Youngkin (R-VA), who has declared he will not run, and former Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) did not secure one percent of support.
Morning Consult also asked Trump and DeSantis supporters who their second choice would be. They both took strong pluralities of one another’s voters, with 44 percent of Trump backers identifying DeSantis as their second option and 42 percent of DeSantis supporters saying they would back Trump if the governor does not run.

Cheney?!!!
But, Ronnie hasn’t start his campaign yet. Wait until he does! I’m sure it will be as spectacular as the Ukrainian counteroffensive!
I assume they mean Lon Cheney. You know, someone who is likable and actually stands a chance.
Not a surprise, considering the Republican and Dem9crat establishments are doing everything they can to prop him up.
Followed by a “Towering Loss” if Trump is the nominee.
Sounding a bit like the Great Pumpkin! ... or Great Meatball.
At this point polling doesn’t mean much because the whole nation knows former president Trump well, but most of the other candidates are primarily known in their state or region and some are primarily known by people that specifically read about them or share their ethnicity.
Only a small percentage of Republican voters take politics as seriously as most of us here.
I should add that the homeowners insurance situation is very bad in Florida and DeSantis is not seen here as a person who has solved the problems.
Trump won twice.
Unless you and Ron don't think that the Democrats cheated.
Which is it? Simple question.
Trump — his biggest problem is himself, his second biggest problem is blind, unreasoning hatred of him
DeSantis — his biggest problem is Florida homeowner anger over ever greater insurance ripoffs, his second biggest problem is not being outgoing enough
Pence — his biggest problem is proven lack of will and ability to fight for what is right
Haley — she might not legally be a natural born citizen
Ramaswamy — he might not legally be a natural born citizen
Cheney — traitor to the Republican Party and voters and proven willingness to fight for what is wrong
T. Scott — pretty much unknown in all important respects
Noem — known by only a small percentage of Republican voters

Trump won once. Let it go.
Out of Wisconsin, Michigan and Virginia, Trump needs 2 out of the 3 to win. That’s not gonna happen. Electoral math is not there. An bitching about cheating gets you nowhere.
I want to win. And Trump isn’t it.
Trump won once. Let it go....An bitching about cheating gets you nowhere.
Okay, now noted that you don't think that the Democrats stole at the very least a few tens of thousands of votes in three states to steal the 2020 election.
I want to win. And Trump isn’t it.
You and your candidate will never win if you can't at least recognize and acknowledge that the Democrats stole the 2020 election.
----
well, desantis showed how spectacular he was, on the world stage, when he said
Nice one.
Followed by a “Towering Loss” if Trump is the nominee.
***************
We better “take a flyer” on a lilliputian type candidate, while the democrats stick with a well known name candidate.(sarcasm)
“That would be stupid, most of us aren’t that stupid.”
“You and your candidate will never win if you can’t at least recognize and acknowledge that the Democrats stole the 2020 election.”
Let it go. There is nothing you or I can do about it. What we CAN do is find a candidate that is electable. Trump is not that candidate.
The goal is to WIN.

Trump won twice except for the cheating.
You want to ignore that.
It's like a guy robs a bank and you ignore it, and you expect that it won't happen again.
And of course it does.
Pretty simply for most.
I think Vivek makes great points and should be a strong contender.Younger people will understand his message.
Perhaps.
Does he acknowledge the cheating in the 2020 and 2022(AZ) elections and how that hurts our chances in getting a fair election in 2024?
