In another reckless escalation, Britain has confirmed delivery of depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine. DU munitions should be banned. They partially vaporize on impact, poisoning the environment with uranium dust that causes cancer and horrific birth defects.

And why would they need it if they are destroying Russian armor so handily?

More lies.

Why?

“They partially vaporize on impact, poisoning the environment with uranium dust that causes cancer and horrific birth defects.”

They don’t vaporize on impact. There may be some uranium “dust” but that would only impact those in the vehicle that is hit and would be the least of their worries.

Depleted uranium is used to make chain gun rounds because its uniquely high weight per unit volume (i.e., density) allows each such rounds to pack one hell of a whallop (lethality via kinetic impact).

The business about breathing in vapor is just nuts. Your body is in ten pieces.

Russia has been adamant about no nuclear anything. Depleted Uranium shells will poison the land for ever, they’re just plain evil. Nuclear based. How will be told in time. *ucking brits, Boris Johnson sabotaged the initial peace deal, now this crap.

Col. Macgregor puts to rest the Russian propaganda about the depleted uranium rounds.

Macgregor: “it’s very good it’s very effective I could attest to that personally and as far as I can tell no one has contracted cancer from being near it around it or having used it
and I certainly loaded rounds and it’s been
a great deal of time around it and I was also on the battlefield where we fought after the war and saw evidence for the damage that inflicted
I don’t know what President Putin’s information is and the Russians are pretty sober minded and normally I think if they knew what they were dealing with they would not make these comments suggesting that this had quote unquote nuclear implications but perhaps they’ve decided that this has some propaganda value that that harms Us in the public eye I have no idea.”

The U.S. has used DU ammunition in our wars and no major ill effects have been noted!

Depleted uranium is largely used for armor piecing shells.. tank killers erc

You don’t need depleted uranium in bullets.

If Ukraine is destroying armor like they claim they are they have no need to depleted uranium.

Just more lies

“The U.S. has used DU ammunition in our wars and no major ill effects have been noted!“

The health impacts of exposure to DU are very well documented… claiming no major ill effects from exposed to it is just not true.

Here is what our VA says with 25 years of study, including of vets who have pieces inside them.

“VA has been conducting a surveillance program for Gulf War Veterans exposed to DU through “friendly fire” incidents for more than 25 years. Some Veterans enrolled in this program have ongoing DU exposure resulting from DU fragments embedded in their bodies. It is important to note that, to date, no health effects related to DU exposure have been found. Nevertheless, the potential for long-term effects remains, and this group continues to be under surveillance.”

Depleted uranium means it has even less of U-235, which is less than 1% of the natural ore, which is fissionable enough for fuel. U-238 is not a problem. It has a half life of about 4.5 billion years. I’ll put the cancer and horrific birth defects warnings in the same folder with stories about global warming raising the sea levels.

Yes, the same VA who left more than 120k veterans without care, not that long ago.

And the military has never ever lied about known health risks associated with things it used or done.. ever. (Agent Orange anyone?)

It’s completely harmless, but we have the dedicated way for file your claims regarding it.

Anyone who tells you anything is 100% safe, particularly from a health standpoint of it entering your body is a liar.

Even water will kill you if you ingest too much too quickly.

Whether is a huge risk or a small risk can be debated but to claim no risk is nonsense.

And again, given its main use is armor piercing, and we have been told for a year that UKraine has been obliterating Russian armor at will, why suddenly now is DI being shipped to them?

More lies

Odd, you just used the VA as a source on this very thread, when you thought they supported your leftist position.

The Republican Guard divisions in Iraq were given hell by our use of depleted uranium sabots. But we didn’t irradiate the countryside. Articles like these are just to create uproar. I kind of wish the media and the web would declare a blackout on this war and not lift it till it was over. Of course I don’t know what each sides’ cheerleaders here on FR would do.
