Every American should have cheap enough electricity to be comfortable in their home or apartment.
This isn’t the dark ages, setting the thermostat at 72 should be no more a thought than turning on the faucet.
In my case, it is window units and space heaters but the same principle, modern man should not be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, this is the 21st century for God’s sake, in America.
All I can say is, welcome to what you never conceived as possible in a sane world.
That can only mean one thing that you also didn’t contemplate.
I suggest everyone also do what he can at home to make sure you're not adding to the energy bills with bad insulation, unsealed cracks, inefficient appliances, or even appliances that somewhat work against each other (i.e. water heater tank in living quarters adding some radiant heat while you're trying to cool the home). Frankly, I'm embarrassed at how long I waited until I did that kind of deep dive and could have saved money for years without lowering our habits and comfort.
