Fox News is miscalculating in its "emotional" firing of Tucker Carlson, severing ties with an irreplaceable force in new-age populist conservativism, according to Victor Davis Hanson, a fellow at the Hoover Institute.
Not only is the network disenchanting its audience, it gave the leftist cancel culture activists a victory, and created a 3.5-million viewer vacuum that other conservative networks like Newsmax are going to fill, Hanson told The Telegraph's "Off the Script" podcast this weekend.
"The Murdochs are not quite understanding that when you take away somebody who had a greater potential elsewhere and was a precious asset that anchored your whole evening lineup and you fired him in a fit of pique, or anger without thinking it through, you've got to be very careful, because you're not going to be able to replace a guy like that," Hanson said, warning the modern media is "fragmented" and allows many big names like Joe Rogan, Bill O'Reilly, and Megyn Kelly make their own way without corporate media.

I viewed Fox less seriously during and after the “Obama Decline”, and I don’t see any value in ‘em now.
Cable news is dying. We have streaming options and a gazillion podcasts now.
Of course they don’t want to replace Carlson, they want somebody that won’t be “popping off” about subject matter they want ignored.
So do I, and he rarely speaks on issues in this manner.
That's why I wanted to get this out there, and I posted it.
FOX has been alienating me (and I assume a lot of other viewers), when they decided that Trump would not get air time or interviews on FOX, and then went and made sure that the anti-Trump ‘contributors’ got a lot of air time to either bash Trump or come up with reasons why Trump is no longer popular and can’t win the independents or some other made up group that those contributors dreamed up. Contributors like Karl Rove were always anti-Trump, and now get to deliver their Trump-bashing without challenges. Ari Fleischer is another big “Trump can’t win’ basher.
FOX has trended anti-Trump and in reality, anti-Conservatism. Soon, they’ll be just another CNN or MSNBC.
The world has moved on from the institutional Fox News. The bright, conservative people there better move with their audience because they’re not going back to Fox. For those afraid of the demise of Fox I think we’re in a whole new information era that will never effectively serve institutionalized news again. The real battle is government control and the demise of constitutional free speech. Fox can never be the agent of change conservatives really need.
Fox News cannot replace their mantle as “Fair and Balanced”. No dissent allowed. The Stalinization of the media
Please go into more detail about the “agent of change” that conservatives need.
Hannity is fine for those taking Politics 101. There are plenty of good people who have no idea that his “good friends” Karl Rove and Lindsey Graham are evil Swamp creatures.
You are correct in the fact that the Degenerate Left (which is all of 'em now) wins the overall in this.
However I am not wishing for the the demise of Fox, like Hanson I am Observing it.
Those Leftists (and maybe others) that are wishing for it will be surprised (along with Fox) when it takes America down with it.

Tucker has zero major corporation sponsorship. Hannity and Laura Ingraham have close to zero.
If Fox figures out how to create a popular center-right evening line up, they could probably triple their ad income by attracting major corporate sponsors.
Apparently, Fox has high hopes for their new young Black male Libertarian - Lawrence Jones.
My first impression - replacing Tucker with Lawrence Jones will be a ratings disaster.
When the founder of a successful business with incompetent sons ages, that business often self destructs for a variety of reasons. Fox is disintegrating. Yet Carlson is not dead. Suspect will will return with something powerful and effective. Hopefully the Democrats and their ilk celebrated a bit too early. Tucker will return and be a big factor in the crucial 2024 election.
Thank you for the clarification.
Undoubtedly those files exist, however Hanson’s not speculating on them.
He’s still on contract to FNC; his show was canceled and he has several ‘clauses’ in his contract preventing him from going elsewhere or saying anything about FNC, until the end of 2024.
He was neutered by The Deep State.
Think about it: Tucker, Rogan, J Peterson. What makes them different and more importantly, effective? At their core they are not creating narratives. They’re bringing their listeners into their quest for knowledge and truth. This is effective because people are increasingly rejecting pretense, narrative and manipulation. MSM and Fox news are all built on those premises. People are starved for “authenticity” and MSM has lost their ability to provide it and in fact, never really had it.
True, thus the need for more and better censorship on all media now.
I might also ad: the times demand it and the audience is catching up to that ultimate truth.
Fox now is nothing but another left of center fluff news slot now.
