The Florida House passed a bill on Friday with a 76-34 vote that would permit the state leader to run for the presidency without stepping down from their current position.
The bill’s approval comes only a few days after it was passed in the state Senate by a vote of 28 to 12. The bill is now on its way to Governor Ron DeSantis’ desk for approval.
The timing of the bill’s approval and Governor DeSantis’ potential presidential announcement adds to the uniqueness of the situation.

I don’t want him in ‘28 either
He has shown his lack of merit
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Run Ron Run!
Screw the Florida voters that just re-elected you.
Screw the fact you have ZERO international experience doing anything other than drinking French wine.
Screw the fact the RINO Bushie Gangsters are dragging you around by the nose like a little bee-yotch.
Ya got no chance Florida Man.
Call it off, recoup, and get your mind right.
2028 is gonna need you Tan and Ready, not washed up, washed out, and broken.
Roll MAGA roll!
45 + 47 = Make America Great Again, Again.
It is unlikely that any Republican of any stripe ever wins the white house again anyway so it’s really all moot, unfortunately.
Did he support this law? Does any other state have this law?
Isn’t that special.
Dittoes. The only way a Republican can win in ‘24 is for Congress Critters in DC and all 50 state legislatures to pass sweeping comprehensive election reform laws to combat the fraud that occurred in 2020 and 2024.
And that ain’t gonna happen.
What is it with you holier than thou pharisees ... Do you not know the Heavenly Father D I V O R C E D the house of Israel?
Divorce is NOT the unpardonable sin, and unless you are the spouse being divorce it is none of your business. OR the disloyal party is using taxpayers money to carry out the affair.
—> You’re right. DeSantis can read the polls, so there’s only one reason he’s considering entering - that he believes (potentially with his assitance) that the Deep State will successfully indict and incarcerate President Trump.

From http://ballotpedia.org/Resign-to-run_law :
Resign-to-run laws require officeholders to resign from their current office in order to run for another. Nationwide, five states have resign-to-run laws—Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, and Texas.

Only 5, I thought there’d be a longer list. I guess all those lieutenant governors can probably do the daily work while the boss is campaigning.

Trump will slice and Dice Meatball like he did with Jeb, Cruz and 15 other
GOP Primary Candidates in 2015-16. Trump will rough Meatball so bad he will NEVER be President, just like Cruz and Jeb will never be President after Trump
steamrolled them.
Of course he supports this bill.
But it isn’t law until Meatball signs the bill.
Meatball is such a loser. Sad and disappointing
I say finally ,Go Ahead Ron and Say what we All See! Stop the Shadow Campaigning and Announce Already!
Let's See What you got up Against President Trump! LOL! May The Best Win! God Bless President Trump Calling DeSanctimonious Out Early On on Day One!
The law was in place when he ran. I asked did he campaign on repealing this law?
Did I say something wrong in my hypothetical about DeSantis?
And since you brought up unpardonable sin, is one sure-to-lose politician running against a sure-to-win politician in a primary election an unpardonable sin?

Score! It's amazing how many people here feel Haley, Christie, even Pence would be a better candidate than DeSantis. Yet they all think it's fine if DeSantis would only wait till 2028.
What's the matter with those people? Don't they have 100% confidence in Trump?
Ill bet he’s anxious to sign it. 😉
Would they feel the same if Trump wasn’t in the race, or if he were governor of a state with a resign-to-run law? I doubt it.
I wonder how many of the protesters resigned from their jobs before looking for new ones?
