The Florida House passed a bill on Friday with a 76-34 vote that would permit the state leader to run for the presidency without stepping down from their current position.
The bill’s approval comes only a few days after it was passed in the state Senate by a vote of 28 to 12. The bill is now on its way to Governor Ron DeSantis’ desk for approval.
The timing of the bill’s approval and Governor DeSantis’ potential presidential announcement adds to the uniqueness of the situation.

But he’s not running. He’s running around the world on Florida business, really.
Did DeSantis run on the position of overturning this law?
If you can’t break the law, change the law.
Desantis is POS like you.
Trump fears DeSantis as much as Harlem Globetrotters fear the Washington Generals.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has slipped even further in the latest poll of the potential Republican primary field, with former President Trump maintaining his strong lead over the rest of the pack of candidates.
DeSantis, who has yet to officially launch a campaign, garnered 16 percent support from Republican primary voters in the new survey by Emerson College, a 9-point slip from February.
Trump’s support in the poll, 62 percent, jumped from two months ago, when he had 55 percent support.
Did DeSantis introduce this legislation?
Can the governor introduce legislation?
What I find funny is that his fan-boys/girls think that if/when he announces his poll numbers will shoot through the roof.
Pres Trump? Who’s he?
I’m thinking it won’t be easy taking on Disney while running all over the country convincing voters that you’re NOT the Establishment/RINO/UNIPARTY pick.
DeSantis will be great in 28 but not for 24.
Before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, the law was once already repealed, and when reinstated, still said that while you had to resign, you could make your resignation effective the first day the term of the new office you were running for. So, even if this law wasn’t passed or challenged, DeSantis could still run as Florida governor and stay on as Florida governor until January 20th 2025.
If the Florida Legislature is anything like the US Congress, anyone in the world can introduce legislation as long as they have a “sponsor” who has agreed to drop the bill in the hopper.
Shirley, you know the legislative process? Just more cloak and dagger antics. I just cannot imagine the holy one vetoing the only legal requirement from staying in the governors house.. I mean, seriously, who would pay for his global campaign junkets.. and he would need section 8 housing..
I really wish he would wait until 28.
Desperate Donald is spending his precious campaign funds running TV ads whining about non-candidate DeSantis. That is an unprecedented level of fear.
It seems the Florida legislature likes their Governor and want him to remain the Governor if his bid for the White House in unsuccessful. I’m not sure why this is controversial.
Indeed!
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said reports on his potential presidential campaign launch date are “inaccurate,” and no plans have been made for an announcement event.
“If there’s any announcements, those will come at the appropriate time. But if anyone’s telling you that somehow they know this or they know that, that’s just inaccurate because there’s not been any decisions made,” he said.

So, desantis is so wishy washy, he still can't decide if he's running for president, or is it that he enjoys jerking people around?
Probably both, as stories come out about how he can't relate to people...
But, then again, a lot of people don't get along well with liars.
