Joe Manchin is a dunce
Hot Air ^ | April 26, 2023 | DAVID STROM

It’s not like Joe Manchin didn’t have every reason to know.

But he is throwing a hissy fit about the so-called Inflation Reduction Act’s effects on the American economy and his own state’s.

It’s pathetic. Everybody who paid a lick of attention could see that the IRA was just a repackaged Green New Deal. It was packed with spending and provisions that the Congressional Research Service and any sane economist could tell you would increase inflation and reduce energy production.

It was a disaster, and Manchin voted for it. Somehow he claims that he was promised that the bill wouldn’t do what it is, in fact, doing. So now he is threatening to repeal it.

Yeah, right.

The original bill could not have passed without his vote, so how exactly does he expect a repeal to get anywhere with his caucus, and if by some miracle he managed that feat, how could he marshal a veto-proof majority to overcome Joe Biden’s defense of his signature “accomplishment?”

It’s absurd. So absurd that Manchin, who is hardly a bright bulb, knows that.

This is all show, because he is realizing what everybody else in the universe did when he consented to vote for the bill: he was had and now his goose is cooked

He of all people should know that the members of his party lie as easily as I take my next breath. The reason why he voted yea is still I know; that he actually trusted the rats’ promises is not it.

Any W VA FReepers here? Can you handicap the Senate race for us? My view of Governor Justice is that he’s too old with precarious health. I’d like to hear the views of people on the ground

No, he is NOT a dunce. He is a Democrat. This kind of stuff does not happen by accident. If you think it does, then you are the dunce.

t was a disaster, and Manchin voted for it.

No, he was THE vote for it. He was personally responsible for it passing, his vote alone was the one that decided whether it passed or did not. And he decided to let it pass. It's not often that a single man can be identified that is THE guy that did the damage but in this case we can.

So if he's upset that it makes him look bad then he should resign, it's all his fault personally.

Joe Manchin is a dunce

I believe Manchin knows perfectly well what he's doing - he makes the necessary noises to convince West Virginia voters that he represents their interests, but his actions are all Democrat.

Manchin’s support for the bill was naked, craven politics. He knew what the scorpion was when he accepted its invitation. He’s definitely not stupid, but he hopes the slimmest of a plurality of West Virginia voters are.

Inflation reduction Act is actually going to increase inflation?

But we were told this law will actually reduce inflation.

Did they give a law an inaccurate name? Remember how the Affordable Care Act did not make health care more affordable?

“But he may also smarter than 99% of Republicans.”

He’s apparently smarter than most of his voters since he keeps shucking them year after year.

I agree 100%. He's the opposite of our traitors, though. Our traitors vote with us, except when it matters. He mixes up his against votes, but rarely when it matters.

“Any W VA FReepers here? Can you handicap the Senate race for us? My view of Governor Justice is that he’s too old with precarious health. I’d like to hear the views of people on the ground”

I’m about 50 miles from the WV border, but I’ll give it a try. Justice is a squish (and would 100% be a Mitch Bitch, if elected) though still 100x better than Manchin.

Alex Mooney is the real conservative in the race, which is why all the RINOs and all their big $$$$ are running away from him and toward Justice. Trump should endorse Mooney to give Mooney’s campaign some traction, but apparently that’s too much of a risk for the all-important Trump Winning Percentage.

The problem with Mooney is that he wasn’t born in the geographical center of West Virginia and therefore is doomed to always be considered an outsider like Patrick Morrissey was painted as when he ran against Manchin and lost — for that reason alone, basically — in 2018. (Morrissey has since been elected to statewide office in WV, and is running for Governor in ‘24, so I guess they’ve “forgiven” him for the sin of being from out of state.)

The RINO fear is that Manchin & the Rats will use the same playbook against Mooney that they did against Morrissey. They also fear the fact that Mooney is a conservative and therefore is “unelectable” (because they feel ALL conservatives are unelectable) — which the GOPe and other RINOs will ensure is the case by backstabbing him repeatedly if he gets the nomination.

Or maybe they’ve learned not to do that anymore after taking down several good conservative candidates in 2022. Maybe they now actually prefer a conservative Republican to a liberal Democrat. Yeah, and I’ve got a bridge to sell....

Typical politician has his cake and eats it too.

RINO’s do it all the time, vote something out of committee all the while denying they support it even though they know it will pass once it comes to the floor but they get to say I voted agin it.
