Just a week before its grand opening, the Shake Shack location in downtown Portland was vandalized, the Portland Police Bureau confirmed to KOIN 6.
Earlier this week, officers responded to the location at 1016 Burnside Street where a window was smashed. It doesn’t appear the vandal was hungry for a burger as PPB says there’s no evidence anyone entered the business.
“The safety of our team members and guests are top priority for us. While we’re saddened to see the vandalization of our Shack pre-opening, we are looking forward to opening and bringing our hospitality and dedicated guest experience to the community here in Portland,” a spokeseperson for Shake Shack told KOIN 6.
Photos of the scene show plywood boarding up the lower half of a glass window.
Shake Shack previously told KOIN 6 it was planning to open the downtown location on April 24.

What the hell did they expect?! Freakin’ idiots opening up in Portland. Surely they must have noticed other businesses closing down and moving out.
Over/under on months the Shake Shack remains open in the city: six months.
I give them 6 months.
One thing about it though is that it's likely too expensive for homeless to shop there but not so expensive that discerning diners would look at it (and be turned off by the neighborhood denizens).
It's likely a sign of the decline of Portland: a downgrade from a restaurant with waitstaff to a "fast casual" restaurant that also makes food to go for delivery.
“...It was the Lactose Intolerant.......................”
For a second I read that as “Lacoste Intolerant”
Yeah, I’ve seen some of those rich white boy protesters wearing alligator shirts.
Shake Shack is woke. They should be a good fit.
They could have contests to see who can break the most glass.
Shack Shake will be gone within 6 months.
“They were just welcoming Shake Shack to Portland.”
And laying down the rules in advance.
Portland’s incredible culinary scene has taken a hit.

Wait til they start collecting reparations.
That they are. Judging from that one corporate officer's comment they were thinking, "Oh, liberal town. They're Our Kind Of People." Somebody has a lot to learn and this was a first lesson.
I don’t think investing in Portland right now was a very good idea.
Portland — America’s filthy urinal.
A+
In Portland, “candy” is a code word for “narcotics”, you silly goose.
They better re-think this before they actually lose more than a window.
Shake Shack is ok but way overpriced for what you get. For a couple dollars more you can get a better burger and fries at Longhorn with a salad.
RE: The safety of our team members and guests are top priority for us.
Typical.
If that were true the next line would be “And so we are getting out of Dodge.”
CEOs can watch the future mayhem and carnage from TV in their mansions, adult beverage glass in hand.
