Kudlow: DeSantis’ Disney Obsession ‘Really Damaging Him’
Breitbart ^ | 04/20/2023 | Pam Key

Posted on 04/20/2023 5:36:23 PM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

Fox Business Network host Larry Kudlow said Thursday on his show “Kudlow” that Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R-FL) “obsession” with fighting the Disney Corporation was “really damaging him.”

Kudlow said, “Start out with this, Trump has got all of these endorsements. He got a big lead in the polls. His endorsement list is unbelievable, but we’ll get to that in a second. Trump is running against DeSantis. Meanwhile, in my view, DeSantis is running against Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. And I think that’s a huge mistake, and his obsession here, I think, is really damaging him. And people and his own backers are pulling away. Mark, Simone said on the air last night. He said if Donald Trump, if he had a dispute with the Disney corporation, Trump would have come in himself solved it in a day or two. Here is DeSantis devoting his entire time to it. Trump is way ahead. DeSantis is fighting Mickey Mouse.”

What BS. The Disney stuff isn't hurting DeSantis at all. The agreements that were made with Disney at the onset were not supposed to be permanent. Disney has been receiving preferential treatment that none of the other attractions have had. Liberals want everyone to believe that Disney has the upper hand here; they don't. They can't walk away from what they have there. It's time for Disney to pay “their fair share” - something libs are always moaning about.

The fear is that DeSantis will play up the culture war stuff…

It’s not “culture war stuff”, as if that’s some trivial distraction. There is nothing more important than the moral character of the populace. All of the other issues flow from the national character. I keep having to repeat this for some reason, but this is precisely why John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Without a populace who are largely self-restrained by a moral code that is external to their own personal desire and whims, the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution become nothing more than a license for debauchery and evil. Nothing else matters if we don’t get the “culture war stuff” right, because the country will fail if the people don’t have the right moral character.

To try to trivialize national moral character and toss it aside, while instead focusing only on pragmatic issues is the epitome of “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.” The country is sinking fast, not because tax rates are too high or because immigration policy is a wreck. Those are merely the symptoms. The disease is a populace that is so morally bankrupt that they can no longer govern themselves. All of the other pragmatic issues have occurred BECAUSE of that moral decline. If you want to fix taxes, or out of control spending, or wide open borders, etc., the only long term solution is to straighten out the people, whose out of whack values have caused all of those other problems.

The problem with these “culture wars” is that conservatives surrender on the most important, fundamental issue as soon as they engage in the battle.

Case in point …

Look at how much attention has been given to school board battles over LGBTQWERTY nonsense in public schools, or “drag shows” in public libraries, or males competing in women’s high school and college sports.

These are the wrong battles to fight. Conservatives shouldn’t be fighting to get trannies out of libraries or boys out of girls high school sports. Conservatives should be fighting to get the government the hell out of schools and libraries, period.

I’ll give DeSantis some credit on this when he stands up and takes THAT political stance.

Larry, I used to enjoy your radio show, and I’ve listened to your money advice, but right here, you sound like a Concern Troll. Did somebody call you up and ask you to start taking shots at DeSantis? Who was it? What do you get for being their mouthpiece?

This is a great point, but in a political context it is completely backwards. Adams’ point holds up because the morality of the populace was the foundation of the law, not the other way around. People back then didn’t need the law or a political process to make them moral and upstanding. The law and political institutions reflected moral standards that already existed.

They don’t exist anymore, for the vast majority of our population. That’s why using a political process to fight these battles is futile.

Does Kudlow have young children? Perhaps he couldn’t give a 🐀 ass about the woke garbage that Disney throws at them. But who really cares about the moral decline of the country?

Andrew Reed and James Matheson, English ministers who wrote about their travels to the U.S. in the 1830s. “America will be great if America is good. If not, her greatness will vanish away like a morning cloud,” reads their account, published in 1835.

Or saving themselves for a big fight over marginal tax rates on capital gains.

Right, that green eyeshade stuff makes everyone’s eyes glaze over. It’s the cultural stuff like trannies in women’s sports or parental rights in schools that gets people motivated.

Control the border, stop the inflation, get the oil pumping, and put people back to work, and you’ve started the country on the right track. If the Republicans take office again, they’ll move against wokeness, but the concern is that they’ll just shadowbox against it and not bother to fix other things. No politician is going to make us John Adams’s America again.

The democrats and their media mouth-pieces are pitting Trump and DeSantis against each other, while at the same time criticizing them both. I can’t believe the two of them are falling for and participating in the scam narrative when they should be teaming up to beat the progressive left. They could do so easily and take over the daily media reporting as they march through and capture every state in the primaries next year (with the exception of NY, California, and maybe a couple other states).

I keep expecting them to appear on stage together to call out the media and let it be known that the two of them will work together to take back our country and the media reporting thus far has been ‘sound-bites’ they deliberately fed to them.

A gal can hope, can’t she?
