You may not have heard of Vivek Ramaswamy, but he is a worthy heir to Trump. | Opinion
Lexington Herald Leader ^ | 4.20.2023 | Steve Nussbaum

Posted on 04/20/2023 10:22:03 AM PDT by libh8er

Most of you are probably not familiar with the name “Vivek Ramaswamy.” He is currently the least-well known Republican presidential primary candidate. But that will undoubtedly change after the first GOP presidential primary debate in August.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a total Trump supporter: I’m all in for Trump in 2024. In fact, I believe Trump is the ONLY presidential candidate across all political parties who can restore this country to its position of worldwide prominence and leadership we enjoyed during his first term. But, after listening to Mr. Ramaswamy — the son of immigrants from India — I believe I’ve found the true “future Trump.” Like Trump, he’s a successful, worldwide businessman with an acute awareness of social, economic and foreign policy matters. He is brilliant, articulate and knowledgeable about public- and private-sector issues, both foreign and domestic. He offers a sincere, spontaneous delivery that will enable him to shine at the August debates. And he will undoubtedly be a valuable asset in the next Trump administration. I urge you to learn more about this amazing individual in his quest for high political office.

In my opinion — and in the view of many - our country and Constitution is currently under siege by those advocating Communist ideologies antithetical to the American way of life: culturally, spiritually, economically and educationally. During his first term, Trump exposed and brought to prominence the threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In fact, historians may well view this feat as one of the most important accomplishments of Trump’s presidency. Over the past thirty years, the CCP has infiltrated this country’s institutions — such as the recent Justice Department arrest of two Chinese nationals accused of running a police operation in New York to silence dissidents — abetted by foreign and domestic actors who hate this country, as well as politicians who are either too greedy or too weak to stand up to this pernicious, existential threat to our way of life.

Only Trump’s America First paradigm can counter this anti-American trend and restore the values and prosperity that has made the United States the greatest country in world history. Many advocates of Trump’s America First manifesto have names like Patel, Ramaswamy, Luna, Reyes, etc. I think it’s ironic and amusing that these first- and second-generation legal immigrants may well be the most likely saviors of our nation. These immigrants have the most profound understanding of and appreciation for the freedoms this country has to offer. By their own accounts, many of these immigrants left their home countries like Cuba, Venezuela, Eastern Europe, etc. to escape the economic carnage and loss of individual liberties imposed under Socialist regimes.

By contrast, it seems our younger generations have little respect for the U.S. Constitution and the freedoms this document bestows. They believe climate change is a more existential threat than the CCP; that instant gratification is a more important value than hard work and freedom; that the government should run our lives and bestow our rights instead of Almighty God; and that the Constitution is an inconvenient document whose amendments can be shredded when conditions suit.

Like many of my conservative ideologues, I believe that Generations X, Y and Z are preoccupied with important issues like abortion rights, gun control and concerns about climate change to the detrimental minimization or utter disregard for such issues as voter integrity, inflation, flagrant governmental over-spending, Biden’s border policies, the threat of China’s impending world dominance and our acknowledged loss of world-wide prestige starting with the administration’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Perhaps it’s time to raise the voting age to 35! Otherwise, I suggest our younger folks start learning how to speak Mandarin.

Start as a cabinet member first. Then we’ll go from there.

Cincinnatti is in the US.

Trump is also Ivy league educated.

It’s a shame that some FReepers are so uninformed.

Vivek is impressive, and I like him.

On the other hand, at age 37, he has a little too much boyish enthusiasm, and he uses a lot of Conservative platitudes, straight out of the box, without putting any personal spin or signature on them.

Regardless, I have voted for and contributed to every GOP nominee since 1972. I will do the same for Vivek if he is chosen.

Explain Article II:

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.

Unh, wait. Didn’t this Vivek Ramaswamy get into a shouting match with with that great civil rights activist, Don Lemon, just a few days ago? The great and magnanimous Don Lemon is a true harbinger of virtue and good character, and not to be doubted in matters of judgment.

Or maybe I just misunderstood the gist of the exchange.

This is why ya’ll Ronettes wil never win-

“and subject to the jurisdiction thereof”
oh that part doesn’t matter right?

“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States”

They make a distinction between two types, Natural Born Citizen “OR” just Citizen. Yet you claim just Naturalized Citizen can’t. Confused?

And what is Natural Born, at the time?
Two Citizen Parents and born on US soil.
No question of loyalty.

As unambigous as the phony Dylan Mulvaney.

Not the issue involved.

Not a Harvard attorney

I certainly don’t hold your ignorance against you.

Re: "Seems unambiguous to me"

One problem - the word "President" is not in that paragraph.

The issue of citizenship by birth in the USA was settled in the 1800s.

The issue of Natural Born Citizenship - in regard to the President and VP - has never been litigated.

I’ve only just started to take a look at him because I have the ability to consume mass quantities of information and at first glance, he is very sharp.

Trump was and is the last hope for this country to be what it was before. Unfortunately, the media, most of Washington and anyone who wants to steal from or kill the USofA is against him.

George Washington’s grandparents emigrated from England, so were not his parents U.S. citizens? If they were not citizens by being born on U.S. soil, then at what point does natural born citizenship kick in? See the problem here?

“Most of you are probably not familiar with Vivek Ramaswamy.”

It sounds like something that might hopefully be completely cured with sufficient dosages of antibiotics over a 2 week period?

KIDDING!

I know nothing about him. I do know, if elected, there will be a Uniparty learning curve, just like Trump had. We absolutely cannot afford that luxury. Trump period! Let me ask you this, what is his exact position on the Uke quagmire?

“Every day this proxy battle in Ukraine continues, we risk global war,” President Trump said. “We must be absolutely clear that our objective is to IMMEDIATELY have a total cessation of hostilities. All shooting has to stop. This is the central issue. We need PEACE without delay.”
There must also be a complete commitment to dismantling the entire globalist neo-con establishment that is perpetually dragging us into endless wars, pretending to fight for freedom and democracy abroad, while they turn us into a third-world country and a third-world dictatorship right here at home. The State Department, the defense bureaucracy, the intelligence services, and all the rest need to be completely overhauled and reconstituted to fire the Deep Staters and put America First.” DJT 3/16/23

Nothing less suffices.

Right, it’s obvious - babies born of illegal aliens, foreign nationals, diplomats etc are not American citizens.

Ain’t nobody gonna vote for a guy named “Vivek Ramaswamy.”

Doesn’t “sound” or “look” American enough. Must be an illegal.

I havent forgotten the appalling vitriol heaped on Bobby Jindal a few years ago.
