Ralph Yarl, the 16-year-old boy who was shot twice for ringing the wrong doorbell in Kansas City, Missouri, is expected to make a full recovery after suffering a traumatic brain injury.
Yarl, who was shot in the head and arm by suspect Andrew Lester, 84, was pictured sitting on a bench, smiling, with one of his attorneys, Lee Merritt, according to an Instagram post from author and activist Shaun King on Wednesday
King described the teen as a “walking miracle with a head of steel” after he was hospitalized following Thursday’s shooting that left him in critical condition.
“Ralph suffered a traumatic brain injury that he is still recovering from. Had the bullet hit his head a fraction of an inch in any other direction he would probably be dead right now,” King wrote. “He is expected to make a FULL recovery, but it will take time.”
He noted that Yarl has doctors and family helping him around the clock and that they have hired a trauma-informed psychologist and therapist to treat the gifted musician.
Faith Spoonmore, Yarl’s aunt, also touted her nephew’s miraculous recovery as the family rallied behind him.
“A true miracle considering what he survived,” she wrote. “Each day is different. He has a long road ahead. However, we are very thankful that he is still here with us.”
The update on Yarl’s condition comes after his mother, Cleo Nagbe, said that her son was just lying in bed, thinking about the shooting and crying.
The 16-year-old boy was shot last week when he went to the wrong house as he attempted to pick up his twin brothers from a sleepover.
Lester, who turned himself in on Tuesday and was released on $200,000 bail, told police he was about to go to bed when the doorbell rang.

When I read shot in the head, I think brain damage, getting yr head shaved for an operation, and being in the hospital and ICU for a few weeks. This is not the case here.

IIRC there’s a gofundme for the kid that has raised over 3MILLION $$$$$$$$$$$$. What about Kaylin Gillis, the white girl that got shot in a driveway and she’s dead?? No news about that. SHE’S DEAD.
The GoFundMe page was organized by Yarl’s aunt, Faith Spoonmore, and has raised more than $3.2 million to support Yarl’s medical bills and therapy. Any additional funds will go toward college expenses at Texas A&M and a trip to West Africa, according to the page.

“Ralph is currently at home with the family,” Spoonmore wrote in an update to the page. “He can ambulate and communicate. A true miracle considering what he survived.”

I was looking for the time that this happened. Wonder why it is not mentioned. Was it daylight or 2 AM?
You know, the homeowner and the kids should shake hands and the homeowner should pay him hospital bills, and then they should flip burgers. Hell, it could change the direction of the country.
The kid wasn’t a bad egg, and the geezer was scared and made a mistake. Everything needs the state involved now.
Kid was shot at 10PM.

The homeowner’s probably using most of his life savings to pay for the bail and attorney’s fees now.
If the geezer was scared he should have stayed away from the front door and called police. What he did was absolutely stupid and changed the life of an innocent person forever. Someone ringing your doorbell at 10 pm does not constitute a threat and does not give you the right to open the door and shoot. Call 911 if you are scared. And don't open fire until there is a clear and present threat, such as someone breaking down your door and entering. This idiot not only hurt a teenager, he also hurt the cause of law-abiding gun owners with his recklessness.
