Southwest Airlines resumed all departures on Tuesday morning after a brief ground stop due to technology issues impacted its operations.
"We should hopefully be resuming our operation as soon as possible," Southwest said on Twitter in response to a traveler asking if there was a nationwide ground stop.
More than 1,200 Southwest flights were delayed as of 10:45 a.m. ET, according to FlightAware. The Federal Aviation Administration said in a tweet that "Southwest Airlines requested the FAA pause the airline’s departures."

10 years ago, Southwest was the golden airline. They have gone into a steep decline.

Oh, that's what they're calling it, now? Technology issues.

Talked with a person in Southwest Opps. Seems Southwest fleet is actually modern and in very good repair. Their software system and infrastructure is antiquated and beyond need of replacement and Covid has impacted air crew availability. They are getting better

He probably ordered the stop due to insufficient POC Pilots.

They’ve fallen far from Herb Kelleher’s vision and leadership. I was in awe of that guy, I worked a contract at Southwest years ago and met him.

I've flown SWA a few times recently, and everything went smoothly.
That said, I was on an Alaska flight recently for which Veterans were invited to pre-board along with active duty types. If that's the new policy flying forward, I'll go Alaska every chance, as the SWA boarding procedure is kind of a pain.
