I am a Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia.
In this video I will tell you what happened on the four hundred and seventeenth day of the war.
Day 417: April 16
In Bakhmut, Russian forces attempted to complement their recent offensive to the north of Bakhmut by developing attacks to the south. However, Ukrainians understood that this was the next logical step and assigned their best sniper, artillery, and drone crews to make sure that Russians do not cross the main street, so when Russians started launching their attacks, they lost one assault unit after another within minutes.
The freshest reports suggest that Ukrainians established permanent surveillance of Russian positions along Korsunskogo street and are eliminating all Russian reconnaissance groups already on the approach. The footage released by the Ukrainian 93rd Mechanized Brigade shows how drone operators coordinate with an artillery crew and destroy a Russian assault unit the moment it tries to cross Korsunskogo Street. Such continuous actions successfully prevented Russians from developing offensive actions from a secondary axis. What complicates the situation for Russians even more is that this area basically has nothing to hide behind. Since the clashes here have been taking place for months, and all the houses in the region are quite small, everything was gradually leveled with the ground, making attacks from this direction as dangerous as attacking through the fields.
When it comes to the central part of the region, Ukrainians are still holding positing on the train station. The soldiers that are defending it said that Russians are increasing the pressure after they established control over the grain elevators. Recent geolocated footage confirms that Russians indeed crossed the rails and are operating in the vicinity of the grain elevators.
In the northern part of the region, the fighting continues. One of the fighters said that intense artillery fire brought the Russians to senses and forced them to stop pushing further. Today Ukrainians tried to regain the initiative and counterattacked Russians along the whole line. Russians reportedly started retreating, although they did put up an intense fight, and overall resistance was immense. Combat footage released by the Ukrainian side shows that Ukrainians are operating in small assault units in order to test Russian defense capabilities from all sides. Whenever a group advances, it tries to leverage the gains immediately to help other units breach their strong points.
Today a commander of the Ukrainians 1st Border Detachment, which is responsible for the southern line, stated that they meet Wagner forces quite rarely and that almost all attacks are already conducted by regular Russian forces. This statement confirms my analysis based on the footage of fights and prisoners of war. Today, Ukrainians reportedly took captive several more dozens of soldiers and showed weapons taken as trophies. This is less than yesterday, although still much more than usual.
A lot of those captives were taken near the Khromove road. A fighter from the Aidar Battalion reported that yesterday they forced a group of Russians to surrender in the aftermath of an unsuccessful Russian assault. Fighters from the Da Vinci Wolfs Battalion showed a video of how they got encircled, held an all-round defense, and still repelled the massive Russian attack. In order to not allow Russian to move freely in the region and prepare for their assaults, Ukrainians are also conducting assaults. Today the Da Vinci Wolves Battalion showed the aftermath of a successful assault on Russian positions. Prior to this assault, their drone operators, in coordination with artillery crews, increasingly targeted Russians in the trenches. As a result, they managed to undermine a Russian strong point and reduce control over the region after a successful assault.
Overall, Ukrainians are keeping Russians away from the main supply roads to Bakhmut and are conducting counterattacks to push them even further whenever possible. Inside Bakhmut, Ukrainians managed to prevent a similar development of offensive actions in the south by establishing tight control over the region and preventing Russians from concentrating their forces by immediately targeting all units that got out of cover. It looks like the situation stabilized, and as stated by a soldier from the 24th Assault Battalion, if Ukrainians break Russian momentum in the north, then Bakhmut will continue to hold.

Since 2015 no cases in ‘high treason’ accusations have been closed. All the suspects have been declared guilty, no matter the facts. This tendency aggravates modern-day Russia. People see spies and ‘enemies of the state’ in their own neighbours and write suspicion notes to the special services. Learn more on human rights violations in Russia from our correspondents.
Yet, the Russians have captured at least 75% of Bakhmut according to the pro-Uke battle map you can find at
https://liveuamap.com/.
Obviously the only way we interpret capturing that much of Bakhmut means that the Ruskies are “struggling” as well as losing. What other alternative explanation could there be?

Russia has lost most of its special forces units in Ukraine, - Washington Post
News Censor.NET War in Ukraine

https://censor.net/en/news/3412192/russia_has_lost_most_of_its_special_forces_units_in_ukraine_washington_post
The Washington Post, after studying “leaked” secret Pentagon documents, believes that Russian special forces are exhausted by the war in Ukraine, and it will take Moscow years to rebuild them.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the ВВС.
The Russian special forces, designed for covert operations in the rear, were used as infantry, and as a result they suffered a huge number of casualties in killed and wounded, the publication notes. American analysts explain such estimates by the fact that, in their opinion, Russian commanders rely too much on specialized units.
Special forces usually receive secret and risky tasks - as an example, the American publication cites the order to capture the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. But after the start of the war last February, Russian commanders “sought to seize the moment” and ordered elite special forces to engage in direct combat, the Washington Post notes.
Observers say the rapid attrition of Russian special forces units changed the dynamics of the war from the outset, severely limiting Moscow’s ability to use covert tactics to support conventional combat operations. American officials in their assessments believe that the huge losses suffered by these units will make them less effective not only in Ukraine, but also in other parts of the world where Russian military forces operate.
As evidence, the documents leaked to the Internet include satellite images. Thus, according to a picture of a military base used by the 22nd separate special forces brigade in southern Russia, American officials concluded that four of the five special forces brigades that returned from Ukraine in the summer of 2022 suffered significant losses. According to experts, the 22nd and two other special forces brigades suffered losses at the level of 90-95%, WP notes.
Russia’s problems are complicated by the loss of experience among its elite forces. Special forces soldiers require at least four years of specialized training, the US documents said, which concluded that it could take as long as a decade for Moscow to rebuild the units.
The documents do not say how many Russian commandos were killed or wounded. However, with reference to intercepted intelligence, it is said that only one unit - the 346th - “lost almost the entire brigade, in which only 125 of the 900 servicemen remained in the ranks.”
The US government’s estimates are consistent with analysts’ observations. Rob Lee, a military expert on Russia and a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, says that as Russia’s motorized rifle infantry has proven ineffective, commanders have tried to compensate by putting elite airborne units, marines and special forces on the front lines — specifically during the unsuccessful attempt to capture Kyiv and in the campaigns in the east and south.
The strategy had immediate consequences, Lee says. Russian commanders, having lost their best-trained fighters, also lost valuable skills that those troops possessed, including intelligence gathering, from the start of the invasion until last fall.
Russia’s spending on its elite troops will have cascading effects, the documents say, including the loss of the ability to train paramilitary groups in unconventional warfare tactics “that Russia has used to advance its interests abroad.” Source: https://censor.net/en/n3412192

Russians continue to suffer significant losses - 100 wounded occupants were accommodated in one school in Zaporizhzhia region alone, - General Staff

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released information on the losses of the Russian occupiers in the southern direction.
As informs Censor.NЕТ, this is stated in official AFU of General Staff.
“Russian occupation forces continue to suffer heavy losses. All medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territory are overcrowded with wounded invaders. As a result, the enemy is using civilian educational institutions of the temporarily occupied territories for its own purposes.
For example, in the village of Vysoke, Zaporizhzhia region, the occupiers converted the local school gym into a military hospital. Medical services are provided exclusively to Russian military personnel. As of April 15, about 100 occupants with injuries of varying severity were being treated,” the statement said.

1. “We have no idea where we are, except that we are in Luhansk region” - Russian mobilized soldiers brought to Ukraine by “lies” again. VIDEO
News Censor.NET War in Ukraine
Mobilized soldiers from Moscow and Ivanovo regions complain that they were illegally taken from Rostov-on-Don to Luhansk region, having their military IDs taken away.
The corresponding video message was published in Telegram channel ASTRA, іnforms Censor.NЕТ.
VIDEO https://storage2.censor.net/video/3/img_2459.mp4.
Relatives told ASTRA that the video, recorded on April 10 or 13, shows some of the mobilized men who were sent on April 5, 2023, consisting of about 500 people, on three cargo planes from Kursk to Rostov-on-Don. Allegedly for training and transfer to a local military unit. However, the men were taken from there to Luhansk region at night.
The authors note that the group appears to have been divided. In particular, 170 of those mobilized from these planes were forced to sign contracts with the Wagner PMC.
“We, military personnel of military unit 11048 and military unit 61899, were sent from the field camp “Inns” (Kursk region), according to Lieutenant Colonel Maetsky and Colonel Yermak, to be transferred to the Southern Military District in the direction of Crimea, we were not shown a combat order , there were no officers with us, after that we arrived in Rostov to the 136th motorized rifle brigade, where only conscripts serve, where we had soldiers gathered under the pretext that they would affix new seals there about the transfer to the unit and it was said that the military will return within one day.
At the moment, five days have passed since those words, the documents have not been issued.<…>.
Many of us are incompetent. They have category “D”. They cannot perform combat missions. Many people need medical assistance, which they cannot provide here in the field,” the soldiers said in the video.
“The people who hosted us here, I’m not going to name them, but they help us, thank you,” says one of the soldiers, without explaining who exactly “hosted” them.
