The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 6:00 p.m. on April 16, 2023.

As Censor.NET informs, this was reported on the official Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the evening summation it is noted: “The Russian Federation continues to wage a war of aggression, completely ignores International Humanitarian Law, continues to attack the territory of Ukraine using anti-aircraft guided missiles, attacks non-military objects.

Over the past day, the enemy launched 25 missile strikes from the S-300 air defense system on the peaceful cities of Zaporizhzhia, Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizh\hia region, and Snihurivka in the Mykolaiv region; as well as 28 air strikes. He carried out 4 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and the civilian infrastructure of populated areas. There are dead and injured civilians, high-rise and private residential buildings, civilian educational institutions, hospitals, churches and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed and damaged.

The Russian aggressor continues to use terror tactics, the probability of launching missile and air strikes throughout the territory of Ukraine remains high.

The enemy suffers considerable losses, but does not give up his plans to occupy our territory. It continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka areas. Actively uses operational-tactical and army aviation in the specified areas. Bakhmut and Mariinka remain at the epicenter of hostilities. During the day, our defenders repulsed more than 45 enemy attacks on the indicated areas of the front.

No signs of the formation of offensive groups of the enemy were detected in the Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Slobozhansk directions. A comprehensive check of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus is underway. Some units of the territorial troops of the armed forces of the Russian Federation continue to be on the territory of this country.

Certain units of the enemy are being held in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine.

During the day, the enemy shelled the settlements of Svesa, Bunyakyne, Iskriskivshchyna, Shpyl, Volfyne, Yunakivka, Basivka in Sumy region, as well as Veterinarne, Neskuchne, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Mala Vovcha and Zemlianka in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy shelled the settlements of Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne and Kindrashivka of the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area north of Hryhorivka and near Spirne. Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region and Ivanivka and Spirne of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. The battles for the city of Bakhmut do not stop. The enemy carried out attacks in the areas of Khromov and Ivanovske settlements, without success. Vasiukivka, Minkivka, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Ivanovske, Novodmytrivka, and Northern Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the Novokalynove, Severne, Vodyane, and Pervomaiske areas of the Donetsk region, without success. Fired more than 15 settlements near the contact line. These are, in particular, Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomaiske and Netaylove of the Donetsk region.

In the Mariinka direction, our defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the Mariinka area. At the same time, Krasnohorivka, Mariinka, Heorhiivka, Maksimilianivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

The enemy has not carried out offensive operations in the direction of Shakhtarsk today. He shelled the settlements of Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka, and Vremivka in the Donetsk region.

The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. During the day, he shelled populated areas. Among them are Vremivka, Novopil of the Donetsk region; Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka and Kamianske of the Zaporizhzhia region; Dudchany, Beryslav, Vesele, Burhunka, Bilozerka, Dniprovske of the Kherson region, as well as the city of Kherson.

Russian occupation forces continue to suffer heavy losses. All medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territory are full of wounded invaders. As a result, the enemy uses civilian educational institutions of the temporarily occupied territories for their own purposes.

Thus, in the village of Vysoke, Zaporizhzhia region, the occupiers converted the sports hall of the local school into a military hospital. Medical services are provided exclusively to Russian servicemen. As of April 15, about 100 occupiers with injuries of varying degrees of severity were being treated.

Russian invaders continue to rob the civilian population of Ukraine, appropriating the grain harvest of peaceful citizens of Ukraine. So, in the city of Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region, the so-called Russian occupation “authorities” are trying to export stolen corn by loading it onto a barge.

At the same time, the Russian occupiers continue the forced passporting of the population of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, in the settlement of Tavria of the Kherson region, the invaders are actively conducting home visits of local residents in order to check the presence of a Russian passport. Citizens of Ukraine who have not received a Russian passport have been informed that if the documents are not issued by June 1, such a person will be deported with the confiscation of all personal property.

During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces carried out 5 strikes on the personnel concentration areas and the anti-aircraft missile complex of the occupiers. Our defenders shot down 4 enemy UAVs (2 Orlan-10 type, 1 Eleron reconnaissance and 1 Lancet kamikaze drone).
