Trump has raised $34 million so far in 2023, including the indictment bump

Former President Donald Trump has raised more than $34 million for his 2024 White House run since the start of the year, buoyed by a big bump in donations since the announcement of criminal charges against him in New York, according to his campaign. His total after the March 30 indictment approached what he took in over the previous three months.

Trump’s latest fundraising report due to be filed Saturday with the Federal Election Commission will show he raised more than $18.8 million between his main campaign account and a joint fundraising account over the the first three months of the year, the campaign said.

Of that total for the Jan. 1-March 31 period, $4 million came in after Trump was indicted March 30 by a grand jury in Manhattan on charges related to a hush-money case stemming from the 2016 election.

34 mil buys a lot of air-time. Of course, some media outlets will refuse to run his ads while using some inane excuses such as "we can't promote a criminally indicted candidate". However, the amount raised since Bragg's indictment has to set them back on their heels a bit.

Also however, that money will fund a lot of rallies which is the venue in which Trump is at his best.

In 4 months? $34 million? For a declared Presidential campaign? This is what our high profile Senate races needed to raise in that period of time. Instead they raised only a penance.

From April, 2019 Open Secrets site on democrat’s fundraising amounts:

Final fundraising tallies from January through March won’t come out until April 15 when candidates officially file their numbers with the FEC. That didn’t stop several triumphant Democratic contenders from releasing their estimated fundraising tallies early:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.): $18.2 million from 525,000 donors
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.): $12 million from 138,000 donors
Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas): $9.4 million from 218,000 contributions
South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg: $7 million from 158,550 donors
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.): $6 million from more than 135,000 donors
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.): $5.2 million
Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.): $5 million

I’d say 34 million is a nice haul for a candidate in the first quarter a year before the official election season starts.

You’re right - and there’s plenty of big spenders for and against Trump so if dark money buys elections we’ll be seeing that game board at play in a big way this time around.

Ugh t be a nice haul, but he’s gonna need more than a billion if he thinks he can convert soccer moms and the women who were alienated in the 2020 election. Not sure there’s enough money to win them over.

There are lots of rules that tie broadcast media outlets' hands on running campaign ads for declared candidates. If they take some, they pretty much have to take all (unless, for instance, there is a content issue involving explicit slander or some such).

From a 2021 article it appears he lost white males and picked up more white females:

“According to the Pew analysis, Trump won white voters by 12 percentage points, 55 percent to 43 percent, down from 15 points in 2016. Biden narrowed Trump’s margin among white men — from 30 points in 2016, to 17 points in 2020 — but Trump won white women by a larger spread (7 points) than he won them in 2016 (2 points).”

And regardless of what polling shows, any Republican will lose if the fake votes keep getting counted.

An ABC News/Ipsos poll, in the field April 6 and 7, showed that Trump’s unfavorable rating climbed to 61% from 55% a week prior. The former president’s favorability rating sank to 25% from 29% in that period.

In the same poll, 80-year-old Biden’s unfavorable rating fell slightly from 49% to 48% and his favorability rating rose to 34% from 32%.

An Economist/YouGov survey that polled Americans April 1-4 found that Trump had a 51% to 44% unfavorable to favorable rating, while Biden’s spread was 49% unfavorable and 45% favorable.

34 mil is chump change compared to what’s pouring into the pedo Dems coffers from overseas.

...he’s gonna need more than a billion if he thinks he can convert soccer moms and the women who were alienated in the 2020 election.

The only women I know of who were "alienated" were liberal college grads between the ages of 25 - 40 and blacks. These voters alienated themselves. Unless you offer to pay them hard cash for their votes, no amount of spending will change their minds. However, if they are paying their own bills, the Biden economy might wake them up.

Um, what do they need all this money for?

With 24 h news, tweets, endless Wayne's World coverage on Real America's Voice, etc., innumerable blogs, etc., what besides a few ads does this pay for?

It totally stinks.

I live in one of the five states (Wisconsin) that Trump needed to win. Yes, there was ballot harvesting etc. but without question, in the WOW counties….particularly Waukesha, Trump lost the soccer moms and traditionally conservative women. They are not liberal educated, single or black. Those women hate Trump. If you don’t believe it, you’re missing a key element in our state. It was a component that cost us the state Supreme Court election two weeks ago. It’s easy to search and find reports of how Waukesha county women/wives, don’t like trump.
