Tim Scott (R-S.C.), who is inching closer to a presidential bid, said on Thursday that he would support a 20 week ban on abortion.
“I think states have to solve that problem on their own,” Scott said in an interview with WMUR in New Hampshire. “The big problem that we see today is that Democrats want to make this a federal issue of having abortions into the third trimester. That is something that puts us in the company of China and North Korea. We cannot go there so we have to have a federal limit on how far we can go and that is something we have to discuss.”
When asked whether he would sign a 20 week ban on the procedure into law if it reached his desk, Scott said “definitely.”
Scott’s comments come after he danced around whether he would support a federal ban on abortion during an interview with CBS News in Iowa, while calling himself “100 percent pro-life without a question.”
“I do believe we should have a robust conversation about what’s happening on a very important topic,” he told the network.

Your poll numbers are less than 1% Tim
I believe the Court’s position would hold a national abortion ban much as they held a national abortion legalization. Neither one is the federal government’s business.
I think we need to now shift into talking about how we’re going to help support these troubled mothers and their unborn/ recently born children.
We waste $billions every year. We can stop wasting that and spend some to care for these mothers and their children.
That’s the position of Tim’s senate pals, Lisa Murkowski and Mitt Romney.
Didn’t Timmy just endorse Lisa Murkowski?
The FBI arrests people and Congress attacks people who do that.
This is a legal $$$ grab. Any $$$ in his prez fund not used is his. Those who owe him - donate to fund, he makes courtesy, low cost run for prez n becomes richer. Not the first to do so - won’t be the last.
Tim Scott’s countenance might imply he is of the Christian faith.
His divided mind speaks compromise all day long, just as the RINO pals he keeps in his circle.
Sadly, Trey Gowdy has fully supported Scott’s every word, so assumptions are made that intelligent men are not right thinking men, not on that basis alone.
People are so stupid. Republican senators are top of the list
It’s a human at the time of conception
20 weeks? What a stupid idea
Libertarians often keep that view, I think. However, a once Christian national government would defend “innocent blood” without question, as the embodiment of innocent human life, a gift of God. Those who would take it would have been drawn and quartered.
The demise of nations begin with, first, a disregard for God and for methodically replacing Him with the mind of men who pull their beards over ways to better please the desires of man.
We reap America’s free fall, today, I believe.
What do you think of Democratic senators who think there should be no restrictions at all on abortion? Certainly they must be more stupid then Republican senators.
What do I think of any of them. They’re killing babies. People
Tim Scott could come out as a senator and say abortion is killing babies as mich as it has been since the early 1970s when it was legalized and before. We do not condone it as a nation as has now been set forth by the Supreme Court after 50 years of a fake law.
You think republicans are better than democrats because they are for pretending that it’s better to kill a person before 20 weeks of gestation?
What?
I agree.
Post-17th Amendment ratification Tim Scott predictably doesn't seem to understand the federal government's constitutionally limited powers.
big deal you weak SOB. Babies can practically live on their own at that stage. Killing babies at ANY stage is a wicked sin and those who are okay with it or advocate for it work directly for satan and will spend eternity in HELL.
I think Tim Scott is trying to navigate a difficult politcal environment. There is very little political support for an absolute ban on abortion. So the next best thing is to try to gain support for some limits on abortion.
Yes I think Republicans who want to work for limits on abortion are better than Democrats who want no limits.
It’s a State issue now, you doofus!
I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
There are public assistance programs already for poor mothers including poor single mothers.

That’s as mealy mouthed lukewarm as what got us here with wimps in charge allowing Joe Biden to be president.
We are a nation under God or were a nation that rules over legalized killing of offspring by their parents
Not both
Can’t have both
