Hope it works better than the pretend fingerprint recognition on my iPhone.

Just imagine - you pull your gun to confront a carjacker, or home-invader.

Less than a second? Is it WIFI or Bluetooth, a wired Ethernet connection may be faster. Probably transmits your fingerprint to the FBI every time you shoot it.

How long does it take the software to recognize the fingerprint and unlock the safety?

They will mandate it. If they do, it needs to start with police, but also FBI, ATF, IRS and any and all other federal departments that carry.
Hey Brandon! You can executive order that!
Won't last 10 minutes...

The world’s first “smart gun” hit the market Thursday, complete with a life-saving fingerprint unlocking system that prevents “unauthorized” people such as kids and criminals from firing it. Their advertising campaign should be:
Works everytime, rain or shine. You can bet your life on it, or your money back and a free fully paid for funeral for you and up to four members of your immediate family if it doesn't.

And those that purchase them can still shoot up a school.
Next.

I never heard of biofire before, but now I know who to boycott.
“a life-saving fingerprint unlocking system that prevents “unauthorized” people such as kids and criminals from firing it.”
It may even save the life of the criminal when it fails to work for the criminals intended victim.

Lemme see. A gun with a battery that could go bad at the worst possible moment, or, simply secure my guns away from prying eyes and curious fingers. Hmm. Whatever should I do?
Pimps like kalifornians might mandate it, but it'll never float in Free America.

gun unlocks in less than a second, using either a fingerprint or facial recognition sensor,
= = =
So the perp takes your gun, points it at your face, and it recognizes you and fires, right?
Can the user load up facial images of other ‘selected owners’, so it will only fire at them?

And if one’s hands are bloody from fending off an assault?

Hope it works better than the pretend fingerprint recognition on my iPhone. I never could get that feature to work as well.
And, what if someone needing his or her gun in an urgency has an injury to the hand? Sutures, scars, bug bite, bandages? Battery failures can happen. Dirt or scratches on the lens can happen. Might EMP be another concern?
Oh, and remember when there were cars that would not start unless the seatbelts were clicked shut? Lots of bad guys took advantage of drivers trying to get those to work IIRC.
