TALLAHASSEE - In a move that likely would spur a constitutional fight, Florida lawmakers appear ready to pass a proposal that would allow the death penalty for people who commit sexual battery on children under age 12.
The House is scheduled Thursday to take up its version of the bill (HB 1297), while the Senate version (SB 1342) was approved Tuesday by the Rules Committee, positioning it to go to the full Senate.
The proposal comes after decades of U.S. Supreme Court and Florida Supreme Court rulings that have said it is unconstitutional to execute defendants in rape cases. A Senate staff analysis said nobody has been executed for a non-murder crime in the United States since 1964.
In a rebuke of the court precedents, the House and Senate bills say that a 1981 Florida Supreme Court case and a 2008 U.S. Supreme Court case were "wrongly decided," with the Senate version saying "such cases are an egregious infringement of the state's power to punish the most heinous of crimes."

SPJNK.
That IS "child rape".
Of course there’s a *very* good reason to execute child rapists. But there’s an even better reason not to: it gives the rapist an incentive to kill his victim.
Already ruled unconstitutional by the state Supreme Court and SCOTUS
Good...
I've heard some people say that and I've heard other people say it's a myth.
Do you have a trustworthy source?

Well for those who wonder why major cities all around the country have become increasingly unsafe since 1964, even in the daytime, there’s your answer right there!
“SPJNK”
SOME PEOPLE JUST NEED KILLING ????????
While this may sound good on the surface. The same child can be murdered and there will be no death sentence. This ensures that molested children will be murdered.
The previous law was declared unconstitutional. If this new law attempts to “cure the defects” that caused the previous law to be found lacking by the courts, it could pass through judicial review.
Still a bad idea though because it creates an incentive to kill the victim. Rapists are alreadysociopaths with poor impulse control, let’s not incentivize victim/witness killing by making the punishment the same as murder.
I've offered dozens of times over the years to e-mail my MS Word doc. with links to the source material, to anyone willing to PM their e-mail to me.
Amazingly, some of those linked sources have been taken down, but several persist. Fortunately, I excerpted key summaries and they're included in the doc.
I have read some really solid studies over the years on how child molesters have themselves been victims of molestation, but I have never seen anything on the same premise for homosexuals.
And BTW, does this same principle work for lesbians (and perhaps even trannies).
I just need to be pointed in the right direction so I can do some research.
Thx again for you response.

On page 37, the other relevant result relates to men.
The 13th research question addressed, of homosexual men who have been molested, what percentage were molested before self-identification as homosexual men, and what percentage were molested after self-identification as homosexual? Of homosexual men who were molested, 68% were molested before self-identification as homosexual, and 32% were molested after self-identification as homosexual.
Thx much!
I can’t say if it is still true, as there is a social media and school-fueled social contagion right now that has exploded the numbers, but it was very clear from talking to them as recently as a decade ago.
That became clear to me long before I became aware that formal studies had also found that.
It also was a major part of people with hypersexualization issues.
And it shows.
Decision completely without foundation, should be challenged and reversed.
