The consumer price index (CPI) fell to a 5 percent annual increase in March from 6 percent in February, the Labor Department reported Wednesday, dropping a full percentage point as prices for goods ranging from fresh produce to automobiles became cheaper.
That’s the lowest level of annual consumer inflation since May 2021. Prices have been coming down since last June, when they topped out at a 9.1 percent annual increase.

So ... prices were going UP at a rate of 6%.
But now, prices are going UP at a rate of 5%.
But let's celebrate the concept that things are now "cheaper".
This is the typical rosy picture story that will be used as a trial balloon to see if the American public at large believes this. Usually they wont and this story will go the way of the dinosaur.
Just waiting on the correction.
“That’s the lowest level of annual consumer inflation since May 2021.”
Yes and trust whatever the government tells me anymore ... Bwhahahahahahahahaha
Thank branDUHn we’re on the road to recovery. 😂🖕. (The finger is not for ChicagoConservative27)
Wow, Tobias Burns is the most stupid writer we will encounter this month, maybe this year…”The consumer price index (CPI) fell to 5 percent…as prices for goods ranging from fresh produce to automobiles became cheaper.”
He apparently believes inflation (the RATE of price change) dropping from 6% to 5% means prices went DOWN.
He obviously failed Econ, Calculus, and Physics.
My grocery didn’t get the message. They just keep going up.
They are liars! The increase in prices slowed, but is not getting cheaper!
Pretty much illustrates what they piled up to make The Hill.

I don’t know what planet these idiots are living on but here on The Jersey Shore regular gas is $3.25 a gallon.
And what pisses me off is about an hour north of me is the Linden Oil Refinery and still I’m paying through the nose to put gas in my little Nissan rice burner!
Cheaper? Cheaper wholesale maybe
That is either a LIE or The Hill is filled with mathematical mental midgets. Actually, it’s probably both. Prices were up 0.1% overall. The decrease in the year over year figure occurs because a month rolled off.
Personally, I don’t trust economic figures from the government. Multiple economic reports have had intentional lies since Biden became Resident.
Trust your own eyes when you buy things.
He failed arithmetic.
In Congress, they call that a "budget cut."

Here is prime evidence for the falling IQ post a couple of days ago. Prices have continued to go up at a slower rate; they have not been falling. If I floor my car, I accelerate at a fast rate. If I pull back to half-throttle, my car does not slow down.
For the past 25 years the shadow inflation rate shown has been about 6% higher than the official government rate. Over that time that would add up to a 4 times price difference between the the two values. Sorry, I’m not seeing that much anywhere. If you were to say the official CPI is one or maybe even two percent low I might agree, but 6% is not close to reality over 25 years.
“prices for goods ranging from fresh produce to automobiles became cheaper.”
What a freakin LIE! the RATE OF INCREASE is incrementally less for the one month period!
