Twitter Inc. no longer exists, now X Corp.
Apple Insider ^ | 4/11/23 | Wesley Hillard

Elon Musk-owned X Corp. has absorbed Twitter Inc. as the first step to becoming an "everything app" similar to China's WeChat.

Twitter's slow transformation from micro-blog to everything platform has seemingly begun. A series of corporate ownership moves has made Twitter Inc. cease to exist, at least in name.

According to information obtained by Slate, X Corp. merged with Twitter Inc. on April 4. This information was revealed within court documents from an ongoing court case between Twitter and Laura Loomer.

The court case in question isn't particularly important, it's a case where Loomer is suing Twitter for violating federal racketeering laws when her account was banned in 2019. What is interesting are court filings that were shared publicly.

So...”tweet” becomes “xeet”?

“Did you xeet?”

“No. I wasn’t hungry.”

LOL! As closely as the media watches everything Musk says or does, I’m surprised this change slipped under the radar for a week.

I wondered what was going on yesterday when Musk tweeted the picture of the headquarters building with the “Twitter” sign changed to “Titter”. Musk is playing with the left much like a cat plays with a mouse.

I do not trust Elon Musk. His “free speech/lookout for AI!” white horse routine is cover as he smilingly works towards world domination. He is not “one of us”.

That said, Twitter has been fun since he took over…

https://www.wsj.com/articles/wechat-becomes-a-powerful-surveillance-tool-everywhere-in-china-11608633003

wsj.com article from December 2020 is behind a paywall but the first paragraph:

WeChat Becomes a Powerful Surveillance Tool Everywhere in China....
The government is increasingly using the app to monitor and suppress dissenting views

China’s do-everything app, WeChat, has become one of the most powerful tools in Beijing’s arsenal for monitoring the public, censoring speech and punishing people who voice discontent with the government.

https://fossbytes.com/china-collects-data-wechat-spying-sale/ (January 12, 2017)

It’s not hidden that China keeps a close eye on its citizen and censors the internet using its Great Firewall. Added to that, many private companies like WeChat offer complete support to Chinese regime by spying on their users. This highly sensitive and personal data can be easily bought by paying a low price. Also, in China, one can easily hire some online service to track another person using his personal ID number.

Big Brother watches you all the time in China. Any item you shop, any ride you take, or any place you eat — there’s a good chance that authorities are sniffing your data. Interestingly, the Chinese government doesn’t need to build specialized infrastructure for this spying.

Instead, an entire network of private and state-owned organizations are collecting data and sending it to the government. These revelations came into the spotlight as a result of a study carried out by The Citizen Lab, a group of researchers at the University of Toronto.

The Citizen Lab’s director, Robald Deibert, says that one can easily assume that Chinese social media and digital technology is supporting the regime, according to CBC.

The Chinese authorities have tons of data about what the individuals are doing at a micro level.” This is being done in ways that haven’t been seen before.

Talking about the Chinese technology giants that play a big part in the whole scheme, WeChat turns out to be the biggest culprit. It’s used by virtually every online Chinese person. The app uses keyword filtering for the users whose accounts are registered to mainland China phone numbers. This censorship is dynamic and opaque. If the users move outside China, they are still tracked.

CBC cites an investigation lead by a leading Chinese daily that bought massive amounts of data for just a little cash. Just think about the border entry and exit records, bank records, real estate transactions, trips made — and you can get everything for a low price of 700 yuan, or $140 Cdn.

In China, there are numerous advertisements for online tracking services. Some of them can provide pinpoint locations in real time. While this data mostly comes from telecom companies, some sensitive information is only available from government sources.

Don’t worry. This could never happen here. Go Elon

All kidding aside, Musk, probably the largest individual U.S. government contractor ever - to the tune of nearly $5 billion, has built his fortune - and his fame - thanks to the “generosity” of the American taxpayer.

He’s using this fortune to repay the American people - by helping to build us our own virtual prison.

Left wing child abusers in Antifa who were kicked off Twitter by Musk are migrating to other social media sites.
