President Gerald Ford believed he did the right thing when in 1974 he pardoned his predecessor, Richard Nixon, of any criminality connected to the cover-up of the Watergate scandal that had forced Nixon to be the first (and to date, only) president to resign from office.
Like many Americans at the time, I was furious at Ford for preempting what surely would have been an indictment for obstruction of justice and related crimes, and I was convinced there had been some secret deal to let Nixon get away with crimes that sent others in his administration to prison. Nixon should have been prosecuted, not pardoned.

Ford was the ultimate RINO.
Ironic that Nixon and Trump were the two most socially liberal Republican presidents of the modern era and no two men have been more reviled by the left.
The Dims hated Trump ever since he announced that he was going to expose and get rid of the deep state. He succeeded at least in exposing it and the Dims are at war with him over it.
Trump messed up the lefts plan of simply trading the presidency back and forth between the Bushs and the Clintons and lying to us over and over about who they would put on the supreme court.
Nixon won by a landslide that was only repeated once by Ronald Reagan.
Nixon had to be totally destroyed but wasn't.
Of course, the Obstruction of Justice charge against Nixon was going to be over the 18 minute gap, but the real Watergate mastermind was John Dean, and he's a folk hero in Liberal circles these days.

We are 50 years on, and the media can’t seem to gather the facts are re-evaluate the history.
There is now overwhelming evidence that Nixon DID NOT KNOW about the Watergate breakin. Worse yet, it appears that it was a CIA operation to potentially set him up.
Now, with ‘most’ of the release of the JFK materials and a basic admission that the ‘government’ was involved with the JFK assassination, and the CIA involvement in setting up Nixon, maybe the media should start asking a questions.
The first should be does voting matter if the CIA and FBI can take out Presidents?
They keep asking the wrong questions, so they keep getting answers that don’t actually benefit the Republic or it’s Citizens.
They hated Nixon because he hated commies. They hate Trump because he hates the deep state, which is the same thing.

Trump can’t be pardoned for these 34 charges because they are NY State crimes, and the president can only issue pardons for Federal crimes.
