Editors are no longer used (or at least rarely so). Online magazines don't hire them because they are too expensive.

But the author of this article could have used Grammarly. It would have caught that error.

When I was a young man I had occasion to talk with an elderly Italian man. He grew up in an ethnic neighborhood, worked hard in the shipyards all his life, real old school guy. He said “Women are not meant to be understood, only loved.” Now, many years of living later, I have found that he was right.

The whole “If Mama ain’t happen, then no one gonna be happy” or “women are very complex and you need to work hard to figure them out” concepts are misguided.

What women want is simple: they want to be listened to. All a man has to figure out is how much of it a woman wants. Some of us just want it when an important decision is being made. Others want it every darn minute. So when a man is getting to know a woman as a potential mate, the question isn't What Does She Want, the question is How Much Of It Does She Want? Don't pick one who wants more listening than you are prepared to give.
