A California mother has filed a lawsuit against several different Shasta County institutions over the slaughtering of her 9-year-old daughter’s pet goat.
Jessica Long originally filed the lawsuit in August against multiple sheriff's deputies; the lawsuit was amended last month to include the Shasta District Fair and Event Center (referred to as the Shasta Fair Association), the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department and Shasta County. It states that in July, two Shasta County sheriff’s deputies drove over 500 miles to Sonoma County to confiscate Long’s daughter’s pet goat, Cedar, and return him to the Shasta Fair Association to be slaughtered.

a state senator bought the goat
that is why all the leo activity
otherwise it would have been a simple refund
Perhaps we should, if not defund the police, at least cut their budget.
The senator released his claim on the goat.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page is covered in replies from people posting pictures of goats. It’s hysterical.
Recycled year old sorry. Published in San Francisco Chronicle and the like.
May have been a baaaaad move…
I am beginning to wonder how many times is article a new story is going to be posted over and over again here on FR.
Silly Mom.
“Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!”

Seven, i think the lucky number is 7
So she suddenly had a change of heart when the daughter bonded with the goat. But until then it was perfectly ok for her to raise the goat LIKE a pet.. destined for slaughter. How can anyone do that ? Raise an animal like a family member only to have it cut up into pieces some day. Sorry lady, can’t have it both ways.
I like goats and stories about them. A relative of mine had a goat as a companion to her two horses.
When we would ride out, the goat would cry and cry because we were leaving her behind - we could hear her very far out.
When we came back, that little goat would walk along with us while we cooled down the horses. She was sweet, and wanted to be with her horse and human friends.
Goats are nice, when you make friends with them.
(And people here are always repeating stories ad infinitum, when the stories are important to them. If you’ve seen it before, nobody is forcing you to read it again...:-)
This is the kind of behavior that is quickly leading this country down hill from rile of law to rule of " feelings".
Couple years ago I was reading in a local neighborhood online thing that somebody was selling a goat, and they had a change of heart and they wanted the goat back even though they sold the goat to these two Mexicanos that showed up with a pickup truck and threw the goat in the back...
She was a little concerned about the goat’s welfare! Hahahahahahaha by the time that little neighborhood note was posted that goat was probably already consumed.
The answer is...”42”
Everybody glosses over the dumb mother who decided she wanted the $1000 for some Gucci handbags or something, so she told her daughter to suck it up and put her daughter’s goat up for auction to be EATEN.
Only after the daughter is crying her eyes out does mom decide not to go through with it and steal it back. And now it is everyone else’s fault.
How about you don’t sell your kid’s beloved pet to be killed and eaten in the first place?
That said, pretty much all of the adults in this thing were a big disappointment too. No wonder we don’t stand a chance against the domestic intel/surveillance taking this country over, with idiots like these literally everywhere.
You are of course correct. Have a hagra biscuit!
Idiots Abide.
The senator didn’t demand the goat be slaughter it was the fair official. The woman told the auction she would make them whole and the senator hadn’t paid for the goat yet.
Well, the electorate is less than 25% democrat, so crime is relatively low
