Former US President Bill Clinton said that he regrets pressuring Ukraine to give up its nuclear warheads in a high-stakes negotiation in 1994.
In an interview with Irish news service RTÉ released on Tuesday, Clinton said that he felt a "personal stake" in Ukraine's fragile territorial integrity. He said he believed that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine in 2014, and in 2022, had the weapons still been in the country — a position that a Soviet historian echoed to Insider.
"I feel a personal stake because I got them [Ukraine] to agree to give up their nuclear weapons," Clinton said. "And none of them believe that Russia would have pulled this stunt if Ukraine still had their weapons."
In 1994, the US helped broker the Budapest Memorandum, with former Russian president Boris Yeltsin, and former Ukrainian president Leonid Kravchuk, with the intention of getting rid of nuclear weapons that were still stationed on Ukraine's territory after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Does he feel terrible about his dumb fat ugly wife funneling tons of uranium to the evil Russians?!
Or his scabies are flaring up again.
Awwww poor widdle baby.
94 was a bad year for Clinton, also ignored the Rwandan Genocide.
Yes, because a nuclear war between Russia and Ukraine is just what the world needs.
Better put some ice on that, Slick.
He was getting the important stuff done, like siccing the FIB on John Cardinal O’Connor.

You got any interns you can spare?
Remember, Bill Clinton is a narcissist and borderline psychopath. So telling lies to get immediate approval is extremely easy for him.
Who actually researched and manufactured those Soviet/USSR nuclear weapons? As far as I know, they were made in Russia and stationed in Ukraine. So not ever really belonging to Ukraine.
Stationed in Ukraine to be closer to Europe if war broke out.
Budapest Agreement proved that if you are possibly threatened by Russia(Finland), join NATO because any agreements signed by Russia guaranteeing your borders are not worth the paper it is written on.
No nuclear nation has ever been subject to a land invasion, so what’s dawning on Clinton is that this war would never have happened if Ukraine had retained its nuclear deterrence.
In fact Ukraine wax anxious to rid themselves of nukes, they just wanted to get something for them.
Read the history.
This is a revisionist view that is being pushed. At the time there was a lot of fear of Soviet nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists, and dictators of unstable break away republics. The incentives were a valid way to try to get a handle on what was potentially a dangerous situation.
The very fact that Ukraine was seen as one of the top 5 most corrupt countries on earth prior to this invasion, is all the proof you need to know that it was the proper action at the time.
I remember Bubba.

When Democrats were fine with interfering in foreign elections.
Ukraine owned some. They got a share of the Soviet Union's nuclear weapon stockpile when the USSR broke up.
Did he tell Ukraine to put some ice on it?
“Well now I feel real bad about that.”
