BEIJING, April 5 (Reuters) - French President Emmanuel Macron and U.S. President Joe Biden agreed in a telephone call ahead of a visit to Beijing by Macron to engage China to hasten the end of the war in Ukraine, the Elysee Palace said on Wednesday. "The two leaders have mentioned their joint willingness to engage China to accelerate the end of the war in Ukraine and take part in building sustainable peace in the region," Macron's office said in a statement. The Elysee said Macron and Biden both hoped China could contribute to solidarity efforts between the global north and global south and build a joint agenda for the climate and biodiversity. It did not elaborate. Macron is visiting China from Wednesday to Friday. Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to hold talks with him to chart a course for bilateral relations, the Chinese foreign ministry said earlier.

Looks like Biden is going to outsource our foreign policy to China.

I doubt very much that Biden said that.

Invented terminology. There is much talk about global north and south of late. God knows why. Most of Russia is north of most of the US. And Australia is being roped in as an anti-China party.

China will do what Dr. Xi (he has an international law PhD) decides is in China’s best interests. Given they are dependent on Russian oil, that will be what is in Russia’s best interests.

BTW, Dr. Putin also has a PhD with his dissertation researched and written in Mineral Economics.

Our media is complete filth.

Good for China. Neocons are incapable of brokering peace.

Sure, China will pull on Putin’s puppet strings... but they won’t do it for nothing.

Biden is too much of a nincompoop to be able to negotiate anything.

He was a powerful leader in the government when he got his law degree, does that make him a lawyer, did he take the bar, what exactly is that degree?
“From 1998 to 2002, Xi studied Marxist theory and ideological education in Tsinghua University, graduating with a doctorate in law and ideology in 2002.”

There are questions about Putin’s doctorate.

“The Mystery of Vladimir Putin’s Dissertation”
Igor Danchenko and Clifford Gaddy, The Brookings Institution
https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Putin-Dissertation-Event-remarks-with-slides.pdf

Also—”Russian President Vladimir Putin has been far less receptive to repeated allegations that he was not the intellectual braintrust behind his 1997 dissertation, “Mineral and Raw Materials Resources and the Development Strategy for the Russian Economy.”

Accusations against Putin first surfaced in 2006, when an investigation by the Brookings Institution alleged he copied about 16 pages of his 200-page Ph.D. dissertation from other sources.

Twelve years later, the Russian strongman found himself defending against accusations that his dissertation had been ghostwritten. According to former Russian legislator Olga Litvinenko, Putin’s dissertation was written by her father, Vladimir Litvinenko, Putin’s academic advisor and the rector of Saint Petersburg Mining University.
Also helpful in “writing” Putin’s dissertation, says Litvinenko: a photocopy machine.

Employing the only cut-and-paste technology available in the late 1990s, she says her father helped Putin cheat by using scissors to snip paragraphs from various sources, glued them together and copied them to create new pages in his dissertation.”

Check the Wiki for Olga Litivenko and decide on her impartiality.

He’s a very smart guy, and particularly track down his speeches at Rosneft. He understands the inevitability of Russian oil dominance. He understands the geology behind oil.

As for quoting a doctorate mentor/advisor, that’s pretty normal. There’s no there, there.

Fake degrees for dictators, it seems to be a thing.

Putin picks up a fake doctorate in something he had never been interested in and Xi gets his in whatever it is.

International Law. Read Putin’s speeches at Rosneft. He understands oil and constituent products. He also has commented on the Bazhenov shale.

You really think he could fool the Rosneft people about oil in their discussions? Or Gazprom about gas? Or Iran about gas? they have the #2 reserves on the planet, behind Russia. You think they would not realize he knows nothing during discussions?

You need to just get rational here.

All I did was post the Brookings study into his fake doctorate, I didn’t say that a bright guy can’t read up on important things when running a country.
