Find your purpose and your people Dr. Gladys McGarey, 102, says she’s always had a purpose and something to live for. “You don’t find that if you’re not looking for it,” she says.
In her book, “The Well-Lived Life: A 102-Year-Old Doctor’s Six Secrets to Health and Happiness at Every Age,” purpose is a key theme. Her passion lies in what she calls “living medicine,” which focuses on “looking at disease and pain as teachers.” By understanding what ailments are trying to tell us, we are able to find the best way to deal with them, she says.

I’m pretty proud of the fact that I could retire at 59 1/2.
Am I rich? No I’m not.....am I poor? no I’m not....I have what I need and that’s enough.
Just an effort live a biblical life.
“First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.”
Proverbs 30:8-9 NLT
I saw a story about a 104 year old woman who was commenting on the death of her 103 year old brother who said, “I told him those cigars and whiskey was going to kill him.”

It’s not how much money one has, it is what is in one’s heart.
My pastor often said, “Money is like oxygen need it to live.”
Wealthy people can do great things to expand God’s kingdom if done with a giving spirit.
I’m just hitting my stride in the second half of my century — professionally, financially, personally. I couldn’t see myself stopping at 64, 67, or 70.
Of course, that could all turn around with one bad doctor’s visit, but barring a nasty curveball, I’m not even thinking about retirement.
I wouldn’t know what to do with myself…
Lol!
I retired at 60, have been serving as a hospital volunteer ever since. I’m now 78, and my inspiration comes from the two beautiful 87-year-old ladies who are still volunteering.

Well, sounds like they went from 31 and 29 to 99 in just a few years. Must have been one hell of a stressful business.
My main purpose is to win the lottery. I should be good for 150 years or more.
They key is to keep moving. You have to be quicker than the Grim Reaper. Reduce the amount of processed foods(nitrites) and sugars/carbs. Keep your mind engaged. Working is good for that. Online classes, computer games, history groups, Bible study, etc. Avoid push technology like television. I retire in January and have already started looking for a job.
